Barack Obama's campaign ad was watched by 33.7 million viewers Wednesday night.

By comparison, his Democratic National Convention speech speech drew 38 million viewers.

The 30-minute infomercial aired on seven networks, and cost "in the $4 to $5 million range," campaign analyst Evan Tracey told CNN.

(On FOX, the clip would have cut into the original start time of the World Series game, which ended up being rain-delayed. John McCain still objected: "It used to be that only rain or some other act of God could delay the World Series...But I guess network executives figured an Obama infomercial was close enough.")

The spots featured personal stories from people struggling with healthcare and financial woes. The people interviewed lived in key campaign battleground states: Missouri, Ohio, New Mexico, Colorado and Florida.

Obama ended the commercial by delivering a short speech live from Florida with vice presidential nominee Joe Biden by his side. He urged supporters to knock on doors and make phone calls on his behalf in the few remaining days of the campaign.
