I have doubts about Mr. Obama too(any rich politician for that matter) and got pretty sick of hearing about this dog they're going to get. My first response was get a shelter dog so God Bless him if he does that at least! I wish folks that make his type of salary and can afford it would help support the animal shelters. Sometimes it seems that the ones who give the most are the ones like me who don't have big salaries but give what we can. Think what a difference it would make if higher salaried people would help!

My children are of mixed race and very rightfully proud of *both* their heritages. They are *not* mutts and it is not funny to suggest that they are. Obama's continual attempt to pass himself off as African-American is a horrible slap in the face to his mother and grandparents. His grandmother raised him - exactly how much does he hate her for her race anyway? Mr. Obama, attitudes like yours are the excuses for horrors meted out to children in Vietnam and Korea who were born of local women and American soldiers, and this is not unique to those two countries. Being "pure bred" is *not* somehow preferable - it isn't when the KKK espouse it and it isn't when you imply it. Welcome to "change" in America - overt "politically correct" racism in the Whitehouse. I am happy for you that you make so much. Capitalism rocks! However, when you make more you don't notice as painfully as the rest of us do when larger amounts of taxes are taken out. The 250,000 salary for the new higher taxes is already being "renegotiated" and has fallen to almost 200,000. And that is actually being reported in the mainstream press. And you likely won't feel the pinch as badly when food prices and retail prices, automobile prices, gas, etc all go higher in response for businesses being taxed more. Their higher taxes will be passed on to us. That is what some of us are a little afraid of. The rich cannot afford to foot the bill alone for all the entitlement programs Obama wants to do. I understand you all want change and change IS needed; even as a Republican I concede Bush messed things up terribly (not by himself but on his watch) but the plans Obama has scare the piss out of a lot of us.

I actually WAS aware of the labradoodle being mixed breed. My attempt at sarcasm obviously failed. My point is simply I do not see the Obama family down at the shelter picking up a pet any time soon. Hats off to him if he does. I have rescue cats myself and would be very pleased if he does so. I just don't see it. He is an elitist and he will want the best.
