Rosie O’Donnell may have left The View, but she won’t stop talking about it. Or so said Barbara Walters on Thursday during her morning show.

“There are some people who have done this show and then for years feel they have to dump on it, maybe for their own publicity,” Walters said. According to the New York Post, Walters’ statements came one day after O’Donnell’s remarks in a telephone news conference to promote her new variety show, which will premiere on NBC on Nov. 26.

“You know, we’re very proud of some of our alumna,” Walters said. She mentioned Meredith Vieira, who has gone on to host The Today Show, and Lisa Ling.

But as for the hostility between her and O’Donnell, Walters said: “I resent it. So, if the shoe fits, lady, get on with your [life].”

Back in 2007 when O’Donnell first left The View, Walters thought she would take the ratings with her. But in an interview on Ryan Seacrest’s show, she explained that O’Donnell’s departure had benefits.

“When Rosie left -- because people used to tune in to see 'what's going to happen today' -- we thought the ratings would go down,” Walters said. “But they haven't. We are perhaps not quite as political, quite as vocal about it as Rosie was, but the topics have been very hot and very fun."
