Brad Pitt Picks Up Best Actor Award in Venice - A Year Late!

Brad Pitt picked up a best-acting award for his starring role in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford -- a year after the film was released and a year after he won the accolade, the Associated Press reports.

"You can run but you can't hide," Pitt, 44, joked as he belatedly accepted the honor.

The actor nabbed the prize at the opening ceremony of the Venice Film Festival on Wednesday, as his latest film, Burn After Reading, debuted.

Burn After Reading, which is in contention for the festival's top prize, also stars George Clooney, Frances McDormand and Tilda Swinton. It is written and directed by the Coen Brothers.

At a press conference, Pitt was asked if it's better to win an Oscar or fall in love with a beautiful woman.

"Brad, don't answer that," Clooney quipped.

Clooney was then asked if he has any plans to settle down and have kids himself.

"I am so surprised to hear that question," he joked. "That is honestly the first time I've been asked that question. I am getting married and having children today. Brad?"

Replied Pitt, "And until then I'll be sharing mine with him. I'll have two more by next year."

In fact, the Venice Film Festival is Pitt's first public appearance since Angelina Jolie gave birth to their twins. On Tuesday night, he attended a Not On Our Watch fundraiser at Venice's Giudecca island.

Ummm. brad pittiful has never won an oscar, so why did they ask him that? He has been in love with beautiful women, it's true. Both Jen and Gwyneth were beautiful on the inside as well as the outside. but jolie? ugh. UGLY on the inside. The cover's okay, but the book is rotten to the core. Brad is a glorified Chippendale dancer, he will never be an actor of any depth. He is a shallow insensitive man, without compassion or comprehension. That award is a joke, just like his performance.

It's such poor taste to pick on people's faults all the time. A lot of people are so full of hate it is so sad. To go on and on about Brad, Angie, Jen and whichever actors/actresses/singers gossip columns and magasines entertain us with is so so sad. If these people are as bad as you judge them, then it is about time you start praying for them instead you criticising them. Was Brad Pitt an unknown bigamist? Because some posting here, it may be the same person over and over for all anyone knows, act as if this man was actually divorced from them instead of his ex. It is just so very tiresome the continuing personal attacks on this man and the woman he has chosen as his partner and who is the mother of his children for years now. Brad Pitt loves Angelina Jolie, and Angelina Jolie loves Brad Pitt. Neither pretends to be a perfect person. All they appear to want to do is be together and raise their family, support each other, have their careers, live their lives. They appear to be a couple who bring out the best in each other. They jointly reach out to help others in need. Neither has uttered anything crtical about anyone else. They get along well with most of their families with some exceptions which is a situation very similar to most. Why would people who are not even accquainted with them have a problem with them? Why are some still so focused on and seemingly angry about two strangers 2005 divorce? How can a divorce not your own consume so much of one's time? I just don't get it, don't some of you have any lives of your own to concentrate on? Please leave this couple alone to live their lives as best they can. Try making your priority your own lives. You will be happier.
