Hmm, thought it was time for change and hope..not hate and more hate. Besides hating Rush, what makes you think his listeners don't think for themselves. Obviously you listen to his show, and still have not gone to the "dark" side. Right?

I guess opinions are objective because I've listened to his radio show and people are not calling in for approval. They call in to have an intelligent discourse and by the way, liberals call and listen too.

This week Obama told the Republicans "don't listen to Rush" if anything is going to get done. Since when does a President attack a private citizen while holding a meeting with a cabinet. Obviusly Obama listens to Rush, too.

Hollywood actors like to remind us that they are just regular private citizens like everyone else. WRONG. They are a Public Entertainment Commodity. They MARKET themselves as such. They could not exist or survive if it were not for OUR hard earned dollars keeping them in business. It is OUR money that supports their lavish life so they can live in oversized homes, afford health insurance and shop at Rodeo Drive. I say GOOD for them!! BUT just like our sleazy government is handing out OUR money to corrupt incompetent CEOS, they are committing this crime with the stipulation that THEY will be held accountable because it is OUR money.

This same theory applies to YOU Hollywood. You are on our dime. If you are expressing a political view that WE do NOT believe in, you ARE stepping on our toes. WE don’t want to hear it. As long as you are spending our money, you need to get a reality check. Do what the rest of us truly Private Citizens have been doing for YEARS. We volunteer, wear t-shirts, campaign door to door, attend town meetings and VOTE. We do all this without the need to have a camera or microphone in front of us. When you go this route, we already Know who you support without having to HEAR it on every cable station. We also do this without having to be loud , brash and insulting. You don’t always have to be “ON”. Some of you will be attending parties and soirées. There’s nothing wrong with that because it is a wonderful celebration for our country.

All the Volunteers and Party Associates will be there. Of course the Hollywood crowd will be there too. Everyone is looking forward to seeing you there. Not because of your political alignment or view, but because you are a Public Entertainment Commodity that we pay for the sole purpose of being entertained.

How did they, these actors you mention, "buy" it exactly? Did they "funnel" the money or "buy" off the voting booth workers (so, it would have to be one of the biggest and most meticulous well-run "schemes" in history, wouldn't it?)

there are many powerful people who have money. Money=Power. Money was used to get Bush elected. "Money" was used in Kerry's run in 2004. That is how it is. That's America. If you have money, you have the power. It doesn't matter what party you support--your money will give you power. It's been like that since the beginning of time. Yes, I'm a democrat, and yes, I, like you, get somewhat sick of the celebrities in American culture. They are pretty much arrogant and sound superficial, just as Carrie Underwood just did; and it doesn't take an idiot to guess who she probably backed for president. Her sanctimonious comment has led to us actually arguing here on a dumb forum.

Wow, have you always been this ignorant? The first time you open your mouth about something its verbal diarrhea. Whether you respect a star endorsing a candidate or not is immaterial, who do you think you are?, just because we listen to different endorsees does not mean they are making our decisions for us, its called free speech, its called democracy, you idiot. Just go back to your commercial playing a video game, obviously its what you do best.

I would like to know what she considers the difference between a celebrity publically backing a political candidate and one publically backing animal rights groups? Personally, I don't want to hear what any celebrity thinks about any issue- I want them to practice their craft.

First, we should commend Oprah for "refusing to use her show as a platform". She could have easily used each show as an Obama-Rally!

Secondly, would it have been such a bad thing if she did use her voice (as the others did)? The presidential race is nothing more than a popularity contest. Candidates use their money and influence to win votes. Their supporters do the same for them. If you're a celebrity and you know that your voice can make a difference in the country (or world), you'd be remiss NOT to use it.

Because celebrities used their voices (even Oprah, when she first introduced Obama to us), this country will change for the better. Race relations will certainly improve...heck, they already have...the proof is in the President! Whites, Blacks, Asians, Hispanics, and Others chose HIM!

I have to say I'm a bit surprised that so many people are still arguing about this...

First of all, NO ONE that would vote solely based on what a celeb says should be voting anyway. Voting is a right that should be exercised after doing the research for ourselves and not listening to what our favorite (or even least favorite) celebrity says.

While I get that some people MIGHT be too easily influenced by celebs tho, I do also think that Carrie is a bit full of herself thinking that she has that much power or influence over someone.

Like "the Smart one" said yesterday, kids these days ARE apathetic and also do not take responsibility for things when they should. SO, although knowing you WILL vote for a candidate isn't really being apathetic, I think what this person (the "smart one") meant is that by not sharing that means you can't really back it up. i have to say,though, that I am VERY proud of today's youth for being much more involved in thsi election than they normally are, or ever have been. That was wonderful to see!

ANyway, why even I am spending so much time on this Im not sure... its all over now and this country has witnessed the most historical victory ever...and we should ALL be proud of this country's vow to change no matter what color we chose on the ballot. I personally support and voted for Obama, but McCain's concession speech was very moving, too. I can only hope both men meant what they've said.

First she states she would never try to harm anyone by being nasty etc in that comment about Jessica & if you think that is an apology you are crazy. That was no apology from Carrie to Jessica at all. That was a confirmation that Tony called her in May.
Now we get foot & mouth disease happening again in this garbage about having an opinion on free choice & how a person votes. I am not sure what Carrie is up to these days but she is putting herself out there for sure. No more meek & mild Carrie. Wait for next week & see what we get.
