I'm 155lbs, 5'9" and a size 4. I know it doesn't make much sense. Numbers don't matter...it's how you look and feel. She looks happy and healthy!

She looks like the average American woman. I don't know why people get caught up in the hype that clothes designers and TV sells you. THAT'S the illusion but somewhere along the way society has brow beaten into people's heads that that's the norm. It's obvious for DWTS fans to tell that Cheryl had picked up weight b/c she isn't as toned but it's not like she ballooned up to 400lbs. This is ridiculous.

I'm a size 12, and my BMI is in the normal range. You can't judge whether or not a person is healthy based on their dress size. I'm 5'9", and my BMI is healthy. I weigh 155 pounds. My doctor doesn't tell me I need to lose weight. You can't base judgements on whether someone is overweight or not by their dress size. As I said, I'm 5'9" and size 12, I am not overweight. Someone else who is only 5'4" and wears a size 12 might be. I don't know, and I wouldn't make that judgement, because I'm not a doctor. To take a number as arbitrary as a dress size and say everyone above this is fat, and everyone below this is thin, is socially irresponsible.

People who base their judgements on dress sizes are just unintelligent people. It happens. Not everyone can be smart. My hope for these people is that they don't have daughters. Young girls cannot be raised in an environment where they are made to feel inadequate because they can't count their ribs. It's just wrong.

TV guide sent an email to DWTS to apologize for taking Maks and Louis' comments out of context or making it seem like they were referring to Cheryl and Lacey when the comments weren't. See louis blog.

I agree with most people here on the comments. It makes me sick that all the models in the Victorias Secret catalogue are 5'9-6'2 110 pounds with breat implants. They look great in the clothes, they look beautiful, but then lets be realistic, the majority of us dont look that way. Im short compare to those models but thin. Its about time someone came up with a clothing line that consists of models that look like real people. However Im glad we have Lane Bryant for people with fuller figures. I am also glad jeans finally come with the option of short, tall, regular.

Cheryl let herself go because Drew Lachey won't leave his wife for her. Poor baby.

stuff you! i'm a size 12 & i'm NOT fat. i'm 5'11" & i've got curves!. the fashion industry has manipulated sizes over the last decade. before i had kids i was 110lbs & wore a size 4 dress(i looked like death walking). that size 4 dress would now likely be considered a zero or 2. now, after 2 kids, i have meat where i really needed it. my hip bones don't stick out disgustingly, my ribs aren't poking through my tops, & my arms don't look like clothes hangers! i feel great! i have rounded hips, a full ass, & i wear a 38C (instead of a 32A). i can no longer carry holy water in my 2 clavicle cavities & i no longer worry about poking my hubby with my hip bones when we're thrashing about in bed!!!

stuff you, all of you guys & gals who say a 12 is fat or who say cheryl burke is. i think she's lovely. the soft, full curves she possesses are extremely sensual & any man would be lucky to have a such a gorgeous gal like her. she looks like a real woman, a healthy, REAL woman. not some bloody skeleton like you see so often coming out of hollywood these days. there's nothing sexy about that. skinny men aren't appealing to me, so why should skinny women garner the same such attention? tell rodeo drive, vogue, cosmo, & harper's to kiss off. it's time to start celebrating real women, not walking coat hangers!!!

12;15 -- No one is an awful lot of people so you should probably stick to speaking for yourself. I remember watching So You Think You Can Dance a year or two ago when one of the male dancer's partner wasn't available due to being sick or injured so they had a professional dancer partner up with him. According to many of the posters here the woman would definitely have been considered overweight -- but boy could she dance! She flew around the floor, had excellent form and was just a pleasure to watch. My husband and his brother completely agreed so that's three people right there to dispute your silly theory!

Look no one wants to see heavy people dance. It's just the way it is. You are on TV so either lose the weight or accept the criticism. No one will be watching the show if all the women dancers are the size of Cheryl and Lacey. Its not mean its just reality.

And I have been watching DWTS since season 1 and Cheryl has definitely gained weight and it shows. If you want to be in the spotlight you have to take the heat. Lose the weight or suck up the criticism.

i know this may be harsh for some people to hear but Cheryl is on the heavy side and so is Lacey. The reality is that people tune in to see the show for the dancers dancing and costumes. They look heavy dancing. Do you really think people will tune in if all the dancers are the size that Cheryl and Lacey are? The real answer is no. But to be politically correct everyone has to deny that weight is not an issue. What Maksim and Louis said is true. And the truth hurts.

Size 12 does not equal overweight, idiot. When you have curves, that does not make you fat either. Society is too focused on a persons weight, it's ridiculous. When you're weighing more than what your actual weight should be, which is in the category of your height, that will make you overweight, but considering how much over you are. This woman looks fabulous and the fact that she's being chastised about her weight is pathetic. I tell you, there are a lot of judgemental people and SNOBBY people out there. If you think you are any better than the next, you're wrong. If you're saying this girl is a size 12 and she needs to lose weight, you're a complete idiot. You DO NOT have to be stick thin to be healthy and you DO NOT have to fit a certain size criteria to be considered thin. Cheryl has a different body type and carries things differently. She's a healthy woman, and whether she's a size 4 or a size 12, it doesn't make a difference, because she's HEALTHY.

Just because the average size is 12, that doesn't mean it's okay - scientists are saying all the time that the average American is overweight. So average = overweight, NOT normal.

I don't care if she's a 4, a 6, an 8, or higher, it's screwed up to ridicule her on her weight when it hasn't impeded her ability to dance. She's a powerhouse, an athlete. Sure people like Edyta, Julianne, and Karina are all quite slight in size, but that's how slim they are when they're fit, and this is how slim Cheryl is when she's fit. She doesn't have that waifish body type, but that doesn't make her fat, at all, not even remotely fat at all. I hate when people say "oh, I'm a 4 and she's no 4" or "I'm not a 4 but neither is she" because you really have no clue what you're talking about. As someone who has been around female friends my entire life, I can vouch that girls with the same statistics (height and weight) can wear different sizes or girls that look like they're really small might wear a bigger size than you'd guess, or girls who look a little bigger might wear a smaller size than you'd guess. Why do you even care? As a woman, I get angry on behalf of other women when they're ridiculed for their weight or other aspects of their appearance and I can't comprehend how any other women can partake in the denigration of another woman. I don't care if you are a 0 or a size 4 or a size 8 or whatever, don't sit there making fun of this woman who is probably more fit and athletic than the lot of you making fun of her. Don't make fun of anyone period. You are what you are and there's no point competing. If you're naturally a size 0, then fine, if you'e naturally a 4, then fine, it's not something that should be competitive.
