I too have wondered why he is called a 'black' President, HE CAME OUT OF A WHITE WOMAN, HE IS MIXED.
That is what gives him such universal appeal, he represents us all. Black people can feel good that someone who's skin is brown is in office, but if his mother was alive she would feel invisible.

I think she wants to be Jacquiline really badly and while the dress is lovely she will never live up to Jacqui's fashion.

I'm white and I voted for Obama because I feel he'll do the best job.
I didn't like Michelle's comment; however, about not being proud to be an American. As far as their appearance, I couldn't care less!!!! I don't judge books by their covers.

Both his parents were brillant, his father from Kenya was accepted into, and studied at Harvard, as a economist, before he returned to Kenya to work for his own Kenyan government. Barack Obama's mother was also brilliant, she was a well respected antropologist. AND your claim that Barack Obama never talked about his white family is false! Barack Obama spoke about his grandfather who helped raise him, a man who served as a US soldier in World War II. Barack Obama also spoke often of his white grandmother who, while taking care of a child, also worked for the US military during World War II. Barack Obama also spoke of how his grandmother worked her way up from being a secretary in a bank in Hawaii, to being the first female President of that bank. Barack Obama also spoke often of his mother, and that she had had cancer, and had died of ovarian cancer. He spoke of knowing that the US Health care system needed to be fixed because he had had to see his mother spend time from her hospital bed, arguing with insurance companies about medical coverage. The fact is Barack Obama talked about the family who rasied him, constantly, and we also saw pictures of his mother, and grandparents on news stations all the time.
AND MICHELLE OBAMA IS AN EDUCATED, BEAUTIFUL, LOVING MOTHER. EVERYTHING SHE HAS, SHE WORKED VERY HARD TO EARN, WHETHER IT WAS GETTING INTO PRINCETON, AND HARVARD. WORKING FOR THE MAYOR OF CHICAGO, LAW FIRMS, AND THEN IN A HOSPITAL. This is a woman who had a father who worked as a city worker, a man who worked every singel day, even thoeugh he suffered form MS. Michelle Obama did not grow up with a silver spoon in her mouth, neither did Barack Obama. Everything the Obama family has they have worked for.

She may be a pretty looking woman, but her comments about America were unforgivable. She needs to step-up her style or become a mockery in other countries.

I for one am sick to death of black Americans claiming that they now feel like they belong here. For crying out loud, you have it fine now and need to stop all of the self pitying victimization. It just doesn't play any more.

Sincerely, get over it. I have seen more racism within the black community than I have among the white. You know exactly what I am talking about; girls too black to date, etc.

And just for the record, Obama is only half black, raised by whites and educated in predominately white Ivy League schools. The fact that "black America" deems him as "one of their own" is testomony to how duped you were in this campaign.

He was far removed from any race induced struggles.

We should all be Americans, just Americans. He used the skin color of his one parent to propel himself into a position of power, for himself. Didn't you ever wonder why he never talked about or was seen with his white family? Duh.....

No one else can "make" you feel proud of yourself. Only you are responsible for that. Enough is enough with this race card. It was used against the American people once again.

Step up and wake up, America is a great country that has provided more to her citizens than all of the countries of their origin no matter where our ancestors immigrated from.

Michelle Obama is smart, beautiful and elegant! I am proud to have her as our first lady. She is so much more impressive than Laura "stepford wife" Bush, and I can't wait to see this beautiful family living in the White House! Shame on you racist crackers out there who would call her ugly, ignorant or tacky or suggest that she is "monkey-like" in some way. I can guarantee that none of your dumb asses graduated from Harvard. Hell, those of you throwing around the worst racist comments probably don't have high school diplomas. I don’t know if any of you saw Tom Brokaw’s political round table talk show this morning. One of his guests was Travis Smiley. They were discussing equality in politics, etc., and Smiley piped up and said that with Obama’s resignation from his Senate seat, there was no black person in the Senate now. Then he said, “This has got to be fixed.” What’s this guy saying, “got to be fixed?” Senators are ELECTED and that’s not going to change. That was a dumb comment for a fifth grader, but especially for a talk show host!! Even his perception is "all wrong." AND thank you US Magazine for giving people the opportunity to express their views.

I am sorry my white brothers and sisters that you are feeling attacked and overlooked. As an african american woman; this is has been an incredible journey for Obama and I don't think you understand how african americans feel in this counrty. On Nov. 5 I held my head higher, walked taller and felt equal for the first time in my life. Not tha I felt inferior but I knew that white people in this country see african americans as equals finally, I no longer wonder "Is he prejudice?, Am I too dark to go into this store? Do they think I don't belong here?". African Americans simply feel vindicated and joyful that the majority of white people in America look at african americans as just people. I am so proud to call any white person my brother or sister. I don't know who is being hostile towards white people but I'm sure they are not educated enough to understand what this truly means to our country.

I am very happy for our new first family. It is definetly a change. I think they are both very poised and intelligent people. They are willing to get the United States out of the debt and other policy problems we are having. I feel that's what is really important. Not the way you dress or your physcial features.
