Unlike rectal exams, or "pooping", or masturbating, or the other examples that have been given, breastfeeding is just that...feeding, eating, drinking. If you're going to be up in arms about a baby drinking from a breast, you should be equally appalled by a baby drinking from a bottle, or, for that matter, by any person in a restaurant, mall food court, park, on the street, an airplane, or anywhere else who is eating or drinking. You should propse a ban on all public comsumption of food and drink, since eating is so offensive to you. If you are sickened and disgusted by a baby drinking from his or her mother's breast, you should also be sickened when you see an adult drinking from a cup of coffee or a bottle of water, or eating a sandwich or a doughnut or whatever. Don't discriminate against nursing babies; insist that everyone do their dirty business of eating or drinking in private!

Breastfeeding is not a sexual act. I have a four year old and an 18 month old, and I breastfed each of them for 1 year. I never derived any type of sexual pleasure from it. However, when I'm with my husband, it's definetly a whole other story; it's all about mindset. I think any woman who is sexually aroused by her own child is mentally sick, and should seek immediate help.

Also, I breastfed many times in public, using a special nursing bra, nursing blouses, and blankets. I never exposed an inch of flesh, and never received any negative comments or actions. There is absolutely nothing wrong with breastfeeding in public, but it can and should be done as modestly and discreetly as possible.

Besides, why is it taboo for a woman to show her breasts, yet I've seen obese guys with man-boobs that make Dolly Parton look like an A-cup, walking around shirtless? Clearly a double standard.

Why is it that when any of the many other species of mammals on this planet feed their milk to their young, it is considered simply that, feeding, but when a human does it, it's a sex act? Our society overemphasizes the sexual nature of the breast, which is a secondary function; nourishing our young is actually the primary function. Why are we the only mammals on this planet that seek to feed the milk of a different animal to our own young? Cow's milk is best for calves.
