People say they have been cured from cancer when actually there is no cure just remission I don't think there is anything wrong with what she said

Holly Robinson Peete: "Autism is Not a Good Punch Line"

 Holly Robinson Peete has responded to controversial comic Denis Leary, who writes that autism is a joke in his new book, Why We Suck: A Feel-Good Guide to Staying Fat, Loud, Lazy and Stupid. "I feel like like autism is just not a good punch line and Denis Leary should know better. It's not funny," Peete told Usmagazine.com at the High School Musical 3 premiere in L.A. on Thursday. The issue is a personal one for Peete: her son Rodney, 10, has autism. "It's not funny," Peete said. "I remember what Chris Rock said when Michael Richards had his issue saying the N word; he said the real problem was that he wasn't funny. To me, Leary is a funny guy but he In the new issue of Us Weekly, on newsstands now, actress Jenny McCarthy says she helped her son Evan recover from autism. Nowhere does it say Jenny cured her sons autism! As a mother of a child with mild autism you do what ever you can to HELP them. That is the word she uses (helped). You want to help make life easier for them because you cant cure them.

"For more on the specific ways McCarthy helped her son recover from autism, pick up the newest issue of Us Weekly." It was incredibly naive and irresponsible for US Weekly to confirm that Jenny McCarthy "cured" her son of autism. Not only is it medically inaccurate, but it is unfair to the millions of children and parents around the world dealing with various stages of the disorder. Even US Weekly should know better.

Since I have read his entire comment about it in his book the press as usually has taken a comment out of the middle of a paragraph to start BS with. In the context of the paragraph the comment makes total sense but how the press is using it it does not.
