i only gained 25 lbs. with my third child and my dr. told me i was underweight. he advised that i was overworking myself and i needed to take it easy. now before you think my doc was crazy for wanting me to get fat you have to know that i gained over 40 lbs with each of my other two. i started out at 95 lbs my first pregnancy because i am petit and blessed with a great metabolism, i wasn't like scary skinny, just little. and i think that the reason i didn't gain much the last time is because i had gained 30 lbs because of the birth control i was on, i guess my great metabolism didn't like the hormones, well anyway that extra 30 lbs. meant i didn't have to store as much fat because it was already there. with all 3 of my kids i lost the weight within 6 weeks without trying, breastfeeding had a lot to do with that. i guess i won the genetic lottery, i know it's hard for a lot of people.

and one more thing, how on earth did any body think she's too big i didn't even gain as much as they say she did and i looked alot bigger.(it went straight to my butt) and you know what, you just cant make people happy cause like they think she's too big, everybody tells me i'm too little, even though now with my permanent extra 30 lbs i am actually 5 lbs. over my ideal body weight for my height but everybody says i'm too skinny, if i gained 10 lbs do you think it would make anybody happy, no, then they would just call me fat behind my back. so i really don't care.

I gained 55 with my son, and dropped it in a few months as well. Every pregnancy is different. I had a red sundress I loved to wear, since it was so comfy, and I looked like a giant, ripe tomato!!! Anyways, weight gain in pregnancy can be an issue. It depends on HOW those pounds were gained. Did she gain it eating healthy foods, or packaged foods out of a can or box? That is what matters. Not many people realize that if you do not eat right during pregnancy, you set your unborn child up for diseases, like diabetes.

AND just because your child seems healthy at birth, you never know what they may get when they become adults! Women who do not take care of themselves allow these babies to suffer in some way, whether it's allergies, autoimmune diseases, and what not. Please take care of your self during pregnancy and breast feeding!

Everyone is different. I've known women who were advised not to gain more than 10 lbs and I've known women who were told that they could gain up to 40 lbs or so. It all depends on your body before and your activity level. I only gained 10 lbs with my first pregnancy and my doctor yelled me because I hadn't been gaining enough. Though it was only because I was still young and had that high metabolism... my second child however, I gained like 30-40 lbs and they were very happy with that. So you can't say that all women are supposed to gain the same... it's different for everyone.

I personally, thought Isla was beautiful when she was pregnant. There are some people who don't have enough cooth to know that you don't comment on a women's belly when she's pregnant and you certainly don't just go and start rubbing it without permission... there's this thing called personal space. Respect it!

The weight-gain guidelines are estimates for optimum health of mother and baby during pregnancy. Women need more calories then for the development of the fetus. If a woman diets or curbs her weight-gain during pregnancy she's not only depriving her unborn child of nutrition, she is hurting herself because the female body is designed so that the fetus' growth and nutritional needs are served first so a woman determined to gain only a few pounds is often overly tired, and suffers classic symptoms of being malnourished.

Well, unless you never have been to a doctor when pregnant, you would know there IS such a thing as gaining too much weight- even when you are pregnant! Surely none of you are silly enough to not know that. It is hard on your heart, plus simply not good fro you to gain excessive weight during pregnancy and can even cause health issues for your unborn baby later in life. That is exactly why there are weight gain guidelines when women are pregnant. Why was she shocked? Did she not have access to a good OBGYN?

How dare she gain any weight while pregnant! I mean, really. We as women are suppose to measure up 24/7/365 to some idiotic idea of perfection. No one is perfect. We all have faults. (some of us are airbrushed to perfection) YES some women are gorgous- and that is why they are on tv/movies and magazines. Face it, if Sex in the City was about a bunch of 300lb women, with uni-brows, no one would want to see it. Put some skinny, half naked skanks in the film and we all flock to see it. Skinny and beautiful sells...for women. Way of the world my friends. Not even women want to see fat ugly women on the TV. But, it is horrible that a pregnant woman isn't given any slack. Honest to God, there is a baby in there, if she starved herself to be the 'perfect' women, the baby would die. I guess that would, in the end be better than gaining 'too much' weight.

You know, if you are in the limelight, dress provocatively on the red carpet, and show off your body in men's magazines, then you are putting your body out there for comment by EVERYONE. Women will be critical because they too are victims of "body facism" when men expect them to look like a stuffed and airbrushed Isla or like any other "star" for that matter. The women who post negatively to stars want to feel that no one is perfect and that they don't have to live up to Hollywood standards.

Does Isla get upset when women envy her or when men drool over her pictures and post about what they'd like to do to her? I'd personally find that more upsetting than body snarking from other women, so I dress modestly despite having a great body. Modesty gives nice men permission to look longer and bores the pigs. It's a great man filter.

I dont think it matters at all what u put on and how fast you lose is. Aslong as you are happy with the way you look and you have a healthy baby thats all that matters.
Women are always comparing but we are ALL different and people dont realize that!

I am surprised when I hear actresses gain over 35 pounds. I am not a celebrity, but when I had my first 2 kids, my doctor ordered that I not gain more than 35 pounds, and it was hard, let me tell you. I didn't much, just the usual amount and the first couple of months, I gained almost half of it, and he was furious with me. He kept telling me that it was just going to be hard to get it off. So, in the end, I only gained the 35 he told me to. Now, with my third child, I ate, but never gained any weight!!! Every time I went to the doctor's office, I hadn't gained any weight, and he was asking me what I was doing, and I said, I'm eating, its just that when I eat, I get full faster, and then I don't eat a lot. Finally about halfway through, I gained five pounds. And by the time I was full term, I gained 11 pounds. When I finally started to gain weight, the doctor said it was about time, he was going to have to report me or something because he thought I was starving myself. So whenever I hear these actresses saying they gained 55 lbs or more, and then they have a flat belly afterwards, it just amazes me. I suppose its genes, but does all of Hollywood actresses have the lucky "genes"? And I still haven't taken the weight off and its been 10 years!!!!

Who cares how much she gained if she took it off? I gained 32 with my first and it took 6 months to take it off ( I went back to work and sat in an office chair four days a week), and 45 with my second and third but it was off within 4 months because I was chasing around the other ones! (and yes, genes have A LOT to do with it, so it was refreshing to see her admit that)
