Show business didn't create the option of renewing our wedding vows. I often see announcements in our town newspaper about couples who did, and they're not breaking up either. Renewals aren't substitutes for marriage counseling; they don't perform magic, or work miracles. Tabloids may try to manipulate the superstitions some have; you can figure out why.
Every year, it's reported that Heidi Klum and Seal renew their vows. Every year. Their reasons are personal. If we agree or disagree with them, who cares? It's not a one-size-fits-all situation. The same goes for Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, whose twins were born this year. It's their marriage, not yours. Obsessing over strangers and their relationships is not only a waste of time, it's a put-down of yourself. It says you find your life meaningless. It's far healthier to assume the best in strangers who do something positive (such as renewed wedding vows) than to waste a lot of energy (hate), rooting for somebody's imagined Unhappiness.
