Ellen Coaxes Jim Carrey to Propose to Jenny McCarthy

 Michael Rozman/Warner Bros. How badly does Ellen DeGeneres want Jim Carrey to propose to Jenny McCarthy? She gave viewers a clue on her talk show Wednesday. She asks the Yes Man star if he's popped the question yet and then surprises him by bringing McCarthy out on stage. "Look how pretty she is!" Carrey gushes. Then, DeGeneres lays it on. "You are such a great couple, and this is kind of putting you on the spot and kind of funny -- and maybe not," she begins. Then, looking at the couple she says, "He says you say yes to everything, and you'll have been together for three years, and we thought that you should propose to her on the show." Look back at the most unforgettable weddings of 2008. The crowd applauds. "Well, darling?" McCarthy teases. Carrey then plays along. "Wow, hun, I love you so much, and I know we never planned on doing this because we didn't feel like we needed a third party to tell us that our relationship was sacred, but Jenny..." But his proposal is interrupted when a doorbell rings, and DeGeneres announces "Ellen's 12 Days of Giveaways." On Monday, Carrey told Larry King he and McCarthy have no plans to wed. I thought the "joke" was rude, intrusive, and trivialized the institution of marriage. Carrey has said he "thinks" McCarthy is happy with their arrangement; hope he's right, especially for the sake of her little boy, who has enough trouble in his life. As entertainment, that was really lame.

Married or not, let's just be happy that they're happy - EVERYONE deserves to find that person they can be themselves with, who laughs at their jokes and soothes them when they're upset - we all deserve to find that special someone, whether it be a man or a woman who completes us. We are suppose to treat others as we want to be treated, love our neighbors and so on and so forth. It is the most basic need/instinct to love, so let's focus on that instead of worrying about what everyone else is doing or with whom they are doing it ; )
