My heart goes out to the Travolta family, I have a 16yr old son and cannot even begin to imagine the pain and sorrow that family is going through. People should NOT critizize the Travolta's choice on cremation. It was their son, their business, their choice. Just because it may not be YOUR choice, does'nt mean its not right for someone else. So to all you judgemental a$$holes, mind your own business !!

the little girl is adoreable- the boy shows cranial signs of mongloidism, and obvious genetic disorders. this can be discerned from the profile views.

Your comments to wish the death of peoples children is absolutely terrible.

Yes, many of us posted here on discussions of cremation and burials. And we have already buried and cremated our loved ones and have gone through that process. Wishing everyone here more death to our love ones is absolutely evil.

Im happy that those that posted about why the prefer cremation stated their opinions and vice versa with burials. We are all accustomed to different traditions, and sometimes someone elses insight into their ordeal makes us all keep open minds about these situations. After all, having a loved one pass is not an everyday event for people, nor do we wish this on anyone. These posts actually made me gain some insight into how people have experienced and handled death, and made me understand their suffering and why they chose what they did. I had a closed mind because of my culture/tradition and now i feel like i can relate and not post any comments that appeared negative before.

This is a discussion board where people share their thoughts and opinions.

Sadly, i think some of our discussions went off the road map, but again, it started off with a comment about the process and people responded.

In Jetts case, i know its his parents decision to cremate him. I wont lie, i was curious as to why they chose that route. Some posts on here gave me their perspective on this. Im not curious anymore.

This is such a tragic and sad thing to happen to any family. I lost my brother in the very same manner. He died during a grand mal seizure at the age of 23. He also had a history of seizures and had decided to stop taking his meds. He had been off of them for a year when he died. I cannot think of anything worse than losing a child. To see people online criticizing this family is also very sad. I get disgusted with the media and the public putting this family and every decision they have made in their lives under a microscope. Unless you have walked in someone shoes, it is best to mind your business. However, in the days to come, there will be more opinions and advice offered when none is needed. What is needed is moral support and sympathy.

Experts are being quoted as saying that Kawasaki Syndrome did not have anything to do with his seizures. I wonder if these "experts" ever considered brain damage as a result of the high fever that accompanies this disorder could have left this young man prone to seizures? My brother had mumps encephalitis at age seven and his fever was so high, I didn't believe my mother until I saw his medical records myself. Nothing will ever convince me that he was not left with just enough brain damage to trigger his seizures.

This family needs our prayers and our understanding... not our judgement.

We need to practice tolerance for others beliefs, Continue to embrace our differences.

As We would not appreciate OUR beliefs, God and faith to be critized or slandered we must extend that
same common courtesy of respect to others and treat others as we would like to be treated.

Please, let us learn from all these different countries the world over who are intolerant of others right to
worship as they see fit. Fighting, squabbling and killing each other over believing Their way is the ONLY
way. Then after horrific human slaughtering they have the gull to smile so self satisfied and proclaim
"OUR God is love".

We are not, by any means a perfect country. But, we ARE a country that values and is proud of our
God given right to worship. That despite our many faults and shortcomings others envy.

Let us not shame ourselves, our religious beliefs, our GOD nor degrade those soldiers (our sons,
husbands, fathers, uncles,cousins, aunts, mothers, sisters and brothers) that have fought
bravely for our RIGHTS of which include our FREDOM OF RELIGION.

I am just so very sorry to hear of your loss. I know a little bit about it, I've lost a sister and a brother both younger than myself and saw what it did to my Mom. My prayers are with you all during this very sad time. My step son has seizures and I know how rough those are...God Bless You all.....

What is wrong with you people?

What does it matter to you whether this child was cremated or buried...it's really none of your business.

This is a personal decision made by the parents (who are the people that loved this child the most in his short life) and who will suffer for years over his premature death.

For you to sit there and debate about "rotting" and "burning" is just insensitive and ignorant.

These people (be that they may be movie stars) just lost a child for God's sake...show some compassion.

To me, being buried is far more brutal and gross than cremation. That's what I said. And no, I don't know that the soul lives on and neither do you. And how dare you presume to tell me about what you believe as though it were gospel.

The reason Jett is being cremated, I would guess, is because he loved the outdoors and he loved to fly with his dad. I would suspect that they will scatter some, if not all, of his ashes so that he can soar and be free. It's really a beautiful expression of love - letting go and releasing the body - ashes to ashes. I think it's a great way to leave this world and I wouldn't hesitate, God forbid, if one of my children passed before me to have them cremated. I think digging a hole and sticking someone in it to decay and rot is far more brutal, gross and would be much harder to explain to a child.

We lost our 2 year old son last year and we had him embalmed and then cremated. We didn't have an open casket funeral, but we did have a private viewing for me and my husband and our parents and siblings. His casket was there at the visitation and funeral and he was cremated 3 days later.
Cremation or burial is a very personal decision and people shouldn't be judged for the decision they make at an especially difficult time. We didn't think we'd have to make that choice about our 2 year old son and we made the choice we thought was best and do him the most justice. We didn't want our 2 year old laying in some cemetary somewhere where no one would go visit in. We had him cremated and brought him home with us and we bought an urn that is a birdbath and we made a garden in our backyard. Now we can go visit him and our other children can too whenever they want and if we move we can take the birdbath with us.

Wouldn't that make an open casket impossible.

I have never known someone to have an open casket funeral and then be cremated after. They don't embalm a body that is being cremated, at least in California, because the chemicals they use to embalm would be toxic when burnt. So if you're being cremated you won't be embalmed. If you're not embalmed, you start to stink really bad and decompose really quickly. I don't know how there would be time.

Regardless, as long as the body was held with dignity and disposed of with dignity. I guess, i can't equate a cremation as being natural, so this is why we believe in burials. I know 1 close family friend that asked to be cremated so i understood that his family wanted to fullfill his wishes after his "view" at the funeral home.

It would have been a nice gesture to have Jett at a funeral service so people close to him could say their last goodbyes before his cremation. But its the parents call.
