Though I do have the greatest sympathy for what the Travoltas are going through (no one should have to lose a child), I do have a couple problems with the article and with a couple of the posts.
First, the article. I would take the article a lot more seriously if it weren't a cult member writing it. If it were someone with no religious affiliation or from a different religious denomination, then it would hit home a lot more than it has. It seems to me that the cult of Scientology spends more time defending their "religion" than anything else - even more time than recruiting and scamming people out of hard earned money. Religion shouldn't cost money to believe in, and there shouldn't be secrets. Thus, why I'm not calling it a denomination, but a cult. Always has been, always will be.
Second, a person had written that they believed that Scientology is an offshoot of Buddism and Hinduism. That could not be farther from the truth. Both of those are religions, and have been around a lot longer that Christianity. To lump both of those religions in with Scientology is just...I can't even think of the word for it, and I'm rarely at a loss for words!! I want to say rude, inconsiderate, and many more, but they don't even begin to express the feeling. I realize that some people aren't familiar with other religions, and Christianity usually is at the forefront of lack of knowledge re: world religion, but that's no excuse to lump a cult in with established religious beliefs.
This is not a rant on the Travoltas and their beliefs. If they took their son off the medication he was on, I feel sorry for them. I'm sure they wouldn't have done that if they'd had any clue that it may endanger their son's life. But remember - celebrities/actors/singers are not Gods, they rarely express themselves without a publicist (and when they do...remember Tom Cruise??).

AMEN TO THAT LISA MARIE. LET THEM GREIVE IN PEACE AND NOT BE BOTHERED BY QUACKS WHO LIKE TO KEEP THINGS GOING.

This message goes out to John. I watched you in an interview on TV (Actors Theatre)some years ago. Your words put me back in control of my life simply by saying "shame on you." This was some needed advice regarding the self pity I was feeling for myself because of critisism from others. The message woke me up!

I am so very sorry for the travolta family, it is very sad to hear anyone be negative to what or why some people say,the things they do if they thought before they spoke it would be alot kinder I am sure needless to say they have not endured this type of pain. For the Travolta family my heart is with them, and will always be as I am a mother of two, that are out and on there own, I still wait to hear their trucks pull into the driveway, and I never say goodbye, always goodnight. and I am sure Jett will never be said goodbye to as he has a part of his Mother and Father's heart with him forever!!! To any readers who disagree with people speculating on Jett's tragic death: I hope you are willing to consider their motivations for a minute.

We are not attacking the Travolta's here, at least that's not what it's about. Jett's death is an immense loss to them. They must be aware of the controversy and it will not help in their grief. And that's sad.

We also realize there is still a certain degree of speculation about whether his parents' beliefs contributed to Jett's death. So if you find people unsensitive for raising the subject, I can understand that.

If is NOT immoral however. You see, Scientology VERY EXPLICITLY orders to take people off drugs for epileptic seizures. And if your doctor disagrees, you are supposed to consider that 'goobledigook' (Hubbard's choice of words, not mine). As such, it is likely that Jett died as a direct result of his parents beliefs. Not certain, but really very likely. And sadly enough, he gets added to a very long list of fatalities from Scientology's warped views on healthcare.

A kid died needlessly, and I am outraged because of that. The questions are raised on his behalf, on behalf of all those who came before him and on behalf of the kids who will be saved a similar faith thanks to these questions.

I'm not asking you to agree this is the right thing to do, but I hope you are willing to accept that our choice of action at least is acceptable.

If there is anyone of you who can say that you devoted your life to your children in the way that John & Kelly have, then you may have a reason to share, but then you would no doubt, be compassionate. To the rest of you, are you illiterate? Can you not read? They DID have Jett on medication that was causing other side effects. So, tney had to take him off to save him from organ failure. How many of you parents constantly clean around your children to an extreme? How many of you take your children with you EVERYWHERE you go no matter where it is? How many of you have children who look into your eyes with such love, adoration and sincerity? How many of you look into your children's eyes with such love, such adoration and sincerity? If every man in this world could be even 5 percent the father, John Travolta is, then this world would be graced with incredible love! The Travolta family teaches the world through actions, beating out the odds of Hollywood, to celebrate the gift and treasure their family. Those among you who think you could have done a better job, be careful, be very careful- you may be presented with that opportunity one day and you may then realize that John and Kelly adored their children, each other and their family in ways most of us could never comprehend. And lets remember... Ella Bleu lost her older brother, a friend and someone she loved, cared for and like John & Kelly will miss incredibly.
