I have to comment. My dearest friend's 12 yr old son has intractible epilepsy. No amount of seizure medication controls his seizures, which he begin having as an infant. This beautiful boy, born with normal developmental skills, has seen his cognitive and developmental abilities march steadily downhill in his life. Like Jett and many children with chronic illness, he is angelic, loving, kind, & uncomfortable outside his family circle. He too must be watched. His parents had him for years on the same medication the Travolta's "elected" not to continue giving their son. My friends did the same thing - removed that medication - it did stop the seizures and caused other terrible side effects, especially as he entered puberty. Even with medications, even with a "pacemaker" - the VNS - inserted into his brain, their son still has seizures nearly every day, sometimes multiple per day - hence, the name intractible. Any one of the seizures can kill him. The nightmare of knowing your child can die any moment! The last resort is a form of lobotomy. Leave the Travolta's alone. You cannot lie to a camera. The love in that family is palpable, and the election to cease that med entirely understandable. Forget their beliefs. Unless you live with that form of epilepsy, you have no idea.

I just read the comment from someone saying that seizures can be controlled by medication and that Jett probably did not have the proper care because of his parents religion. This ignorant comment sickened me. I am mother of a 15 year old daughter with retractible epilepsy. My daughter is on 3 seizures meds with high doses and she also has the Vegal Nerve Stimulator and yes she still has complex partial, absence, and generalized tonic clonic seizures every day. NO they are not called GRAND MALS they are called TONI CLONIC. You are also wrong in stating that there is some brain abnormality and that it can be treated by removing the diseased tissue. My daughter's MRI's show no damage. Surgery is not the answer for every person with seizures that cannot be stopped with medication. She is simply a child who started having seizures when she was a baby and whom has had them steady since then, without the meds she wouldn't survive. My daughter also has Autistic tendencies, but she is not under the umbrella of Autism; she is also congitively at a very much younger age. In the articles I read they state that John and Kelly had a caretaker with their son 24/7. We also rarely let our daughter be by herself, although at 15 she wants so badly to be independant, so we let her shower herself, go to the bathroom alone; in that window of time anything can happen. Wasn't it Flo-Jo who died having a seizure? Are you gonna say that she didn't care for herself. This is just such an ignorant statement. I have seen the pictures of John with Jett head to head with Jett's hand loving on his daddy's face; these are not the actions of a child who was not tremendously loved. Shame on you for suggesting otherwise. And before you say you didn't, let me tell you that if you suggest that they didn't do everything for Jett possible then you are suggesting that he wasn't loved enough. With a child similar to Jett, life is about QUALITY NOT QUANTITY.

To Mary: God bless you for speaking the TRUTH! ONLY the good Lord can send His HOly Spirit to THe Travolta's and give them true relief in their time of dispair. My prayer has also been that HE would reveal Himself to them and save their souls. God bless you and thankyou for speaking the REAL truth!

I could not imagine losing my son!! They may be famous but a family first!! My prayers are with the Travolta family....God Bless your son and cherish the memories :-)

My prayer in all of this has been that the tragedy of losing this precious boy will bring the Travolta's to the knowledge of the truth of who God really is. If I lost my child, in my grief I would know that my child was in the precious care of our Lord, in Heaven, in peace,for eternity. The Travolta's do not believe this. They believe their son's "thetan" or "spirit" hovers around waiting to attach itself to another life. How this could bring anyone peace is beyond me. I am so thankful that my God created my children in a personal, loving and profound way. They are not "arbitrary creations of the universe"; some chance creation. They were created with the greatest love man can never duplicate...the love of a caring God who knew them by name before the foundation of the world was laid. Jesus is the gateway to the Father, to eternity in Heaven; not Scientology. So I will continue to pray for God to extend his mighty hand of mercy to this family, and that in their despair, they will call on His name....L. Ron Hubbard cannot do a thing for them. He is dead in the grave. Jesus rose from the dead, and is the only one who can offer them the true comfort and peace that they will surely need. May God have mercy on Jett, and reveal himself to this family. Lord, bless them, comfort them, but most of all....REVEAL YOURSELF TO THEM. God Bless you, John, Kelly, Ella and Jett.

I wish u all the luck in getting over the passing of jett. Like john said, remember the time u got to be with him. The fun times u had with him. But most of all, it will be on your daughter. Be there for her. Show the love for her.

Im a John Travolta fanatic I even watch His film "The Boy In The Plactic Bubble". I also have watch and collected all his movies, John is an honorable,samaritan,performer everything a man would want to be RIP Jett, God Bless Travolta Family.

what I have gleened from this story is this: jett was probably an epileptic in that he had a history of seizures. seizures are usually the result of a brain abnormality /damage and in many case can be moderated with anti seizure drugs. this disease is caused epilepsy. and I suspect that being scientologists, the travoltas probably did not have their son on anti- seizure medication.

there are different degrees of severity in seizures, the grand mal is the worst type while many seizures are hardly noticeable. if a person is in seizure every few minutes or every hour and medication does not moderate then sometimes brain surgery is the only option to try to remove the damaged brain tissue so that the person can live a more normal life.

I suspect that this poor kid could have had a better and more normal life if he had been under proper medical care.

like the snake handleing pentecostals, faith can be a dangerous thing. and listening to a pipsqueak like tom cruise lecture about psychiatry was enough fro me to really wonder what kind of kool aid these people are drinking.

I grew up with John during the Kotter Era...and watched him grow into a wonderful Actor, man , Husband and Father...My Sympathy goes out to him and his family...I'm so sorry for your loss.....
