Michael Phelps is AWESOME! To those who have nothing else better to do than to criticize MP and his looks, do yourself a favor and back off! Do something more productive to help you feel better about yourself. Go Phelps!

What could be hotter than having the strength, didication, and willpower that it takes to win 8 gold medals and break world records? Michael Phelps should be applauded for being a fine example of athleticism and hard work.

All of you who are criticizing Phelps should probably get off your computer and get back to work. No wonder you're jealous- you're probably stuck at the bottom of the heap at a dead end job because you lack the ambition and motivation to work hard and succeed.

I am not an american and I admire him because he is a remarkable athlete and seems to be very down to earth, but those qualities make him a good man, not a good american, the fact you people seem to think he is all that because he is american does sound like misguided patriotism, I'm sorry fot this, but you should be proud of him for cleaning the image the rest of the world has of every american after the wars and the goverment's desition of not being a part of the Kyoto Protocol, I know this is not how every american feels like, but you have to understand that the rest of the world thinks that if you do nothing to show you're against the desitions made, that must be because you support them, and before someone writes something like, why do you live here then?, I do not live in the US, I just admire Michael Phelps for being a terrific atlethe and a good role model for everyone, not just americans

3:58- If you are an American you would realize that the athletes are there representing this country, representing their home. So it is not unreasonable that many of us are proud of his achievements not only as an athlete but an American athlete collecting his gold while our national anthem is playing. We as Americans support the American Olympic team- we cheer for them over any other country. It is not misguided patriotism- well it is only to a select few who are so bitter with their country that for 2 weeks they can not muster enough enthusiasm to support their country's excellence in athletics.

Michael Phelps and Mark Spitz both look great on their respective magazine covers! Also, I saw this commercial on TV about Dell/Camera, and this guy looked like he could be Coldplay's Chris Martin's twin brother, etc.

He looks naked to me. I think that's absolutely sick and disgusting. Can no one at SI see what they're putting on the stands? Even my 9 yr old without prompting thought he was naked. sick

I fell in love with him when I saw the way he treats his mom. He adores her and she is so there for him. He was raised by his mom and he has two sisters, you know that he knows how to treat a lady.
