VIDEO: Michelle Obama: Barack's "the Same Man I Fell in Love With 19 Years Ago"
Tuesday August 26, 2008

Michelle Obama says politics hasn't changed her husband.

"The Barack Obama I know today is the same man I fell in love with 19 years ago," Michelle, 44, told a cheering audience during her keynote speech (see video, above) Monday at the Democratic National Convention in Denver.

Throughout her speech, her voice caught with emotion and she sniffed several times.

"He's the same man who drove me and our new baby daughter home from the hospital 10 years ago this summer, inching along at a snail's pace, peering at us anxiously through the rearview mirror, feeing the whole weight of her future in his hands, determined to give her everything he'd struggled with so hard himself, determined to give her something he never had: the affirming embrace of a father's love," she added.

After Michelle finished her speech, Barack, 47, appeared via satellite from Kansas City to greet his wife and their two daughters, Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7.

"Hi Daddy! I love you," Sasha gushed, taking the microphone from her mom and blowing her dad kisses.

Tonight: Former president Billy Clinton will speak, as well Barack's running mate Sen. Joe Biden.
