Hannah Montana is so yesterday.

In an effort to broaden her tween image, the 15-year-old has signed on to star in an untitled film by Notebook author Nicholas Sparks, Variety reports.

The role is being written especially for her.

After meeting with Disney execs, Miley cited Sparks' A Walk to Remember -- a 2002 tear-jearker starring Mandy Moore -- as an example of projects she'd like to headline.

So Sparks agreed to write an untitled novel (due in fall 2009) and simultaneously work on a screenplay adaptation for the film.

When he told Miley about the plot — which is being kept under wraps but focuses on family and romance -- she was intrigued.

Sparks told Variety that the Cyrus clan was "very familiar with the work I've done in the past. That played a role in this project coming together."

Miley's mother, Tish, will serve as the film's executive producer.

How well do you know teen stars?

Miley hasn't been quiet about wanting to branch out her career.

Asked about the future of her Disney hit Hannah Montana, she said in July: "We're thinking this is our last season. I just think we did a lot of episodes."

A Hannah Montana feature film is due out in Spring 2009.
