BREAKING NEWS: Mindy McCready to Return to Jail for Probation Violation

Mindy McCready is going back to the slammer.

The embattled country singer, 32, is set to turn herself into authorities Tuesday for violating her probation for prescription drug fraud in June.

Her attorney, Lee Ofman, issued the following statement to Usmagazine.com Monday:

"In accordance with an agreement we have reached with the district attorney of Williamson County, Tennessee, Ms. McCready will voluntarily surrender to authorities on September 30th to serve a sentence of 60 days. The successful completion of this sentence will satisfy her obligation to the State of Tennessee resulting from her probation violation."

Speaking directly to her fans, McCready said, "I am working very hard to put all of this behind me as quickly as possible so I can get back to what I like to do most: sing, write songs, and entertain. I would like to thank my fans for their unwavering support as I continue to work on my recovery and to regain custody of my precious son, Zander.”

McCready had entered rehab in July for undisclosed reasons after having been jailed in 2007 for violating probation on a 2004 drug arrest.

You are saying give the girl a chance, obviously you have no clue about her. She has had more chances than anyone I have ever seen! She tried to committ suicide while she was pregnant with Zander. She keeps getting off, that is the problem. She needs some serious mental help and fast. She needs to admit she has a problem and get serious about help for her sons sake. He did not ask to be born. Second, she needs to pay for what she has done and own up to her mistakes instead of blaming everyone else.

Sounds to me like she needs to be in a rehab facility again. In jail she can have access to more drugs.

I saw Mindy at the Fargodome in Fargo, ND when she opened for George Strait in 1997. I got to meet her after the concert when she was signing autographs. She was so nice to everyone and even took the time to take pictures with her fans. I became a fan back then and I'm still a fan now. She and her son need our prayers and support. I look forward to her getting her life in order and making a come back with her music career.

every time she gets into trouble, she issues the same statement about wanting to sing and put this all behind her. her singing days are done, but if she's serious about loving her son, SHE NEEDS HELP. she needs to stop all the lieing, all the denials, all the blame, and go into extensive rehab. but jail doesn't seem to affect her so why would therapy? what a waste.

What a waste of talent. She has a beautiful voice, but she is done. She has "been working hard" at putting this mess behind her for years. What bull! If she was working so hard, she would not have violated her probabtion and would have custody of her son. Poor child!
