I've read that China and Korea are encouraging their citizens to adopt. These countries are trying to change their culture. I've read that some women are tricked into handing over their children.

Wow 5:59 and 6:08. You really scare me. It is your type of thinking that has made the world as messed up as it is. In case you hadn't noticed, we are all on the same planet, in the same boat, and technology has made the world extremely small. You need to make peace with the fact that we are all in this together. In the meantime, don't adopt any kids with the attitude you currently have. Scary.

OMG they adopted a child from the USA, fantastic. Every American kid deserves a loving home with a mom and a dad. Why are kids in Calcutta our problem and not the people of their own nation? Start a campaign in India, if you are so concerned, to change how people in that nation treat their own children. Why should American kids always be at the bottom of the heap, they matter just as much as anyone else in the world. How insulting.

I believe adoption is a beautiful way to build a family. My understanding is that Nia has been suffering from infertility. I can't wait until she shows pictures of her new daughter.

I am a foster parent.. Right here in the United States. I think it’s great that people adopt from our country first, and bring awareness to the thousands of children in the system. I have seen cases where it was a misunderstanding with CPS taking kids away and babies getting right home to their families.
I have also seen when they take a child, let them have visits with their family, put them in a "permanent" foster home, only to have them ripped away from them also to be put back in either my home, or somebody else’s home. By that time they are already desperate for somebody to love them; they need much more help and love than I am qualified to give them, so they have to go into a "therapeutic" level home, so that they can try to get through issues.
The sad truth is that some kids in foster care ARE treated like kids in a third world country. Some foster families only do it for the money and can't even spend the gas to get these kids to the doctor. Rescuing our kids from a sometimes horrible situation just like kids in third world countries.
For you to say that kids in other countries are more superior and deserve to be loved more than the kids in our country, that my friend is where ignorance is formed.

Our kids???? What the hell does that mean? Are we still stuck in some backwards notion that kids from America are the most important ones in the world or the only ones that matter? Do those of you who think Americans should adopt Americans not realize that by giving kids from any country a chance we are helping the world and thus helping America? America doesn't exist in a bubble so the more homeless children there are suffering overseas the more aid we send to them, the more diseases are spread, the lower the life expectancy rates are, the more unstable societies become, the less likely the children are to receive educations, etc., etc. Can you not see that or does your patriotism blind you to the obvious? Of course kids in America are worthy of help too but if a child in America is in foster care or a group home, as deplorable as that may be in comparision to being in a loving family, there is simply no comparison to how a child in an underdeveloped nation will suffer if he or she is left without a family. What you should be doing is commending people who adopt and give children loving homes no matter where those children are from. Happy children grow in to happy adults and that's better for everyone. If your supposed patriotism renders you incapable of seeing how this effects the big picture then you're not worthy of calling yourselves Americans because the America that I love and live in is the America who reaches out to those in need regardless of the color of their skin or the city of birth on their passport. You should be ashamed of yourselves but I fear that people who make such ignorant comments don't have the good sense to be ashamed.

I was adopted from a very poor area of Calcutta, India, where people do not have opportunities to better their lives like we are so fortunate to have in the U.S. There's even no such thing as a foster care system, so a child like me could have been left out in the streets to literally die, which is unheard of in this country. I find your remark to be just slightly offensive. There is nothing wrong with opting to adopt a child overseas.

Yes! A child from the US being adopted! 1054- So what are we supposed to do about the kids in the US? Leave them in foster care their whole life? They need families too, and with the fact that I live here, their needs come first. So bite me.
