Pal: Nicole Richie "Is in Shock" Over DJ AM

 Jeff Vespa / Wire Image Nicole Richie "is in shock" after her ex fiance DJ AM and pal Travis Barker were critically injured in a jet crash upon takeoff from a Columbia, South Carolina, airport after midnight Friday. Four people - including Barker's assistant - were killed. "She wishes only the best for Adam and hopes he recovers from this," a pal tells Usmagazine.com. "She's horribly upset about the people who died." Her beau Joel Madden "knows Travis and also feels terrible and hopes they recover. This is terrible news for both of them." Meanwhile, Shanna Moakler, Barker's ex, "is devastated and in total shock. It just hit her," another source tells Us. The pal says she is hopping in a plane to be by his side. i feel so sorry for him and travis family and friends and we all know nicole richie is hurt directly to her heart like a year ago they broke up they were the only 2 to survive i would lose my mind of nervousness im in shock everybody just saw those two at the mtv awards plaaying music and djing its sad

I just saw this on tmz...so incredibly sad. "Travis Barker's assistant wanted to get home in time for his pregnant wife to give birth. We've now learned why Barker and his friends decided to get on that doomed Learjet in South Carolina late last night, and the explanation can only be described as a horribly cruel twist of fate. It all started some time yesterday, when Barker's assistant, Chris Baker, told the guys that his wife was going into labor. Barker told him that he would do everything in his power to get Baker back to the hospital in time. The quickest way back to Van Nuys was that Learjet. We're told Barker usually won't fly on private jets, but made an exception for what was supposed to be one of the happiest moments of Baker's life.

I'm in shock! I live 35mins away from where it happened and our local news channels have been covering this since the accident. I hope and pray that Travis and DJ AM have a speedy recovery, and I keep their family and friends in my prayers also. I also pray for those who lost their lives, along with their loved ones. I'M SURE NICOLE IS VERY UPSET ABOUT THIS, AT ONE POINT SHE WAS PLANNING TO MARRY HIM, HOWEVER IT'S VERY TACKY FOR US MAGAZINE TO POST A PICTURE OF THE TWO OF THEM TOGETHER WHEN SHE IS WITH SOMEONE ELSE NOW AND HAS A CHILD WITH THAT PERSON AND THEY WERE A COUPLE IN THE PAST AND POSTING A PICTURE OF THE TWO THEM IS DISRESPECTFUL TO JOEL AND NICOLE.
