i am white i have never had a slave.there are no slaves today,why do blacks keep talking about this.blacks are breaking this country ,thats why fannie mae and freddy mack got into so much trouble putting blacks into housing.look at the schools in washinton dc ,more money has been put into that school system than any system in the usa and its still getting the worst scores.the prisons are made up of about 60 percent black. only 6 percent of blacks go to college out of that 6 percent are black men.do i need to say anymore.

Oprah only donates for the same reason as any other rich celebrity, for a tax break. She donates just enough to qualify for the tax breaks and no more. If you look at forbes magazine's list of most philithropic billionairs, Oprah is in the lower teir. People like Warren Buffet, Bill Gates and Ted Turner give so much more money per year then Oprah, but non of them shamelessly self promote every dollar they give. Ted Turner has all the same media contacts as Oprah, but I've never seen a TBS/TNT special called "Turner's Gift" (ie Oprah's Big Gift), she is the type that gives 1 dollar and then spends 2 dollars to tell every one about it.

What is so great about an inner-city school that costs $14,000 per year? Sounds like these people are being robbed! I think that is a bit steep for a year of education! She could have sent it somewhere else and helped a lot more kids.

I'm a teacher it sounds like they need to turn this so called private school into a charter school.If the teachers teach all day and fundraise at night.I'm glad to see she's helping American kids for once.She did build a 40 million dollar school in South Africa

What's the fuss, that is like 1/2 percent of the money she has, I donate 15% of my salary to various charities, just like what is the big deal, because it is Oprah? there are plenty of charities here in America that could use the money.

If Oprah is so proud to be black, why does she try to look white? starting with her nose jobs.

Good grief, she gave 4 MILLION dollars to educational programs last year, she didn't have to give anything. I'm quite sure every dime of that money wasn't earmarked exclusively for black kids!!!!

Most of it sure was! look it up.

She spends that much on nose jobs, nutritionists, wigs, make up people etc, she spent thousands and thousands just to have her ears pierced. This is a very small amount considering her earnings. Other stars give much, much more, to a variety of causes.
