Saturday September 13, 2008
![]() Getty Images Oprah Winfrey will devote a special episode of her syndicated talk show to a new Senate bill targeting child predators. The program, which airs Monday and has a TV-14 rating, will show the "extent and pervasiveness of child pornography trafficking in America" and urge viewers to support the Protect Our Children Act (U.S. Senate Bill 1738), Harpo said in a statement. "What you are going to see is going to shock you to the core, but I'm asking you to please not turn away because this is happening in our country, to our children, in the United States every day," said Winfrey, who has revealed that she was the victim of child abuse. Winfrey, an outspoken supporter of Barack Obama, has not backed away from political engagement. In 1991, she testified before a congressional committee regarding a national database of convicted child abusers that was later signed into effect. In 2005, Winfrey's Child Predator Watch List resulted in the capture of nine fugitives. See photos of Barack Obama's biggest celebrity fans.
