Prince William, Harry Granted Own Staff Office
Tuesday January 6, 2009
![]() Chris Jackson/Getty Images Princes William and Harry have been given their own royal "household" by Queen Elizabeth II, their grandmother. This means they'll have three staff members and a small team to help them handle their public duties and private lives -- including military and charitable activities, the Associated Press reports. (Previously, all their affairs had been handled by the office of their dad, Prince Charles.) See which stars look like princesses! Sir David Manning, who formerly served as the British ambassador to Washington, will be the princes' part-time advisor. The brothers released a statement from their new household at St. James Palace (near their father's office at Clarence House in Central London) featuring their personalized "cyphers," or logos. William, 26, choose a red cypher, which is the same color used by his father and grandmother. It consists of a "W" topped with a coronet. 24-year-old Harry's cypher looks similar, but has an "H" and is blue -- a close shade used by his mother, Princess Diana, who died in a car crash in Paris in August 1997. William is currently training to become a search-and-rescue pilot with the Royal Air Force. Harry begins two-and-a-half years of training this month to fly British army helicopters.
