MSNBC retracts false Palin story; others duped

NEW YORK (AP) -- MSNBC was the victim of a hoax when it reported that an adviser to John McCain had identified himself as the source of an embarrassing story about former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, the network said Wednesday.

David Shuster, an anchor for the cable news network, said on air Monday that Martin Eisenstadt, a McCain policy adviser, had come forth and identified himself as the source of a Fox News Channel story saying Palin had mistakenly believed Africa was a country instead of a continent.

Eisenstadt identifies himself on a blog as a senior fellow at the Harding Institute for Freedom and Democracy. Yet neither he nor the institute exist; each is part of a hoax dreamed up by a filmmaker named Eitan Gorlin and his partner, Dan Mirvish, the New York Times reported Wednesday.

Well, I must say it is sad to hear that we are still called coon. I must admit that purple kool-aid drinker was my favorite. Despite our differences, we are all human beings created in his image. Are you living up to that image? I do not care about the president elect, or the bashing of Sarah Palin. All the evil and wrong doings will be dealt with accordingly says the word of the Lord. I 100% agree with you. I am a 55 year old white woman, raised in Louisiana, living in Dallas, Texas, and I am appalled by that language. However, I am even more appalled and saddened by someone raising a child that would allow that type of prejudice! I apologize for the term and the behavior. Please don't believe that is is representative of the entire white race. Red Kool-Aid was (is) my favorite, and that is where the differences end for me.

Can't we just get off Sarah Palin and her family? Its over and lots of people are upset over nothing - she is a busy, beautiful woman with a lot more going for her than being a candidate for US Vice President. She is a gorgeous woman with lots of spunk and more personality and poise than Katie Couric (sorry Katie - used to luv ya!).

I am so sick of the "we had no rights, we were enslaved" card. Do u personally know someone who was a slave? Me either. Get over it! Everyone has equal rights now, and this generation had nothing to do with that crap that happened 50 or so years ago! The only ones who are oppressing African Americans are the people who are living up to the stereotype. Go to New Orleans, and you will see.

Obama is inexperienced. That is what counts. Also, I am against abortion, killing babies is wrong no matter how u look at it. Do innocent babies need to DIE because someone wasnt careful enough in the bedroom? Or what about if u get raped, does that baby need to DIE? No, the rapist should die, not the baby! (Had to throw that un-related opinion in there, i know). Obama is Pro choice...

She has an 80% approval rating from all parties in Alaska, and he is the most liberal senator in the senate, who was put into office by a known terrorist. to all of you clinging to obama's 57 states gaffe: 1) seriously? that's your argument?, and 2) if you actually listened to him say that it is abundantly clear that he simply mispoke. he even does the math saying he has one state left to go, excluding hawaii and alaska...i.e. he's been to 47 states, one left, two he's not visiting. now had he said something like he'd been to all 51 states, one left and two he doesn't plan to visit...then i could see how you'd take concern. but he didn't. move on guys, move on.
