Congratulations to the new parents to-be, Tim and Jane Allen!

Good for them. The only problem I have with older women being pregnant for the first time is the greatly increased risk for birth defects, such as Downs Syndrome. If they are prepared to take those risks, then why not wish them all the best?

My boyfriends parents has 3 children all 7 years apart btwn each child.
So the first & the last are 14 years apart.
Its not that serious.

A bit older? he is 55, whether the wife cares or not is immaterial, the child is the priority.

What are you talking about..if he and his wife are caring, loving people..why won't the child be a priority. And yes it's him and wife decision,not what society thinks..They are raising the baby.

Would it be better for 25 yr crack head and his 18 yr old girlfriend to raise the baby because their younger.

Alot of grandparents have raised kids..and they are older, but the kids turned out fine.

11:43PM - Not knowing your age - I still have to say that you shouldn't be s0 narrow minded. We have kids having kids not knowing a thing and then it's the children who suffer and perpetuate bad habits from having parents who couldn't give them what they needed or deserved. Now we have a mature couple - clearly qualified to have a child and you go and make that stupid comment. One word - Idiot

And you have no problem with Bristol Palin and Jamie-Lynn Spears having kids? At least those over 35 are more mature, have more income, and more patience to raise kids than teenage parents.

I disagree with this statement "Over the age of 35 is too old to be having children."

My mother had me when she was 45... there are reasonable answers behind that also..
People have miscarriages.. my mother had 5 before I was born, I was actually the only hope she had left to actually have a baby.

So, you can't just state that over the age of 35 is too old.

Nice try sweet cheeks, but I have two children and am now in my 40's and don't you worry your pretty little head, I have worked full time since the ripe old age of 17. Don't need any help paying the bills or putting food on my table. But thanks for your concern.

Yet another older man with a much younger girl. And a high school sweetheart left again. I wonder if he wasnt famous and had little money if this girl would have given him the time of day.hmm!! Ask yourself this Mr. ALLen, Where are you gonna be when she gets to be your age? Probably dumped in a nursing home while her and her new extremely younger man live off of your wealth. If you can tell I do not agree with such huge age gaps but that is my opinion. But what does bother me is when it happens after being married to someone for so long.
