I think tom cruise was the wrong person to have on any show to explain or answer any questions regarding how medical issues are handled by scientology. I will not call it a religion because it was something made up by are writer who these people have set up as some type of god. I feel sorry for these poor parents and I resent anyone putting tom cruise on tv to try to give a performance, I think it was in bad taste for barbara walters to do this show.

First off, I am a parent who lost their child. No parent should have to live through that. The heart wrenching grief that is felt is almost insurmountable. Any one who has lost a child can tell you that is one of the worst things a parent can go through. Enough said
I want to send out my condolences to John and Kelly and thier family. I am so sorry for you loss and because of the age Jett was it makes it even more tragic. He was just learning how to become an adult and leaving his child hood behind. He had so much ahead for him. My heart aches for you.
As for Walters question, it is just her job but to ask Tom to remark about a friends tragity, and put him on a spot like that is uncalled for. What the hell was he suposed to say? "OMG my friend is so distraught" or "OMG, I can't even emagin the pain he must be going through" Those would have been exceptible but Tom can't come up with a dramatic line in such short notice. He is an actor and is not used to doing ad lib. If you want ad lib ask Jack Black, Robbin Williams or somebody who has stand up to do an off the cuff statment. Come on people give Tom a break. Hey Barb maybe you should have discussed it with him befor the show and that way he could have had a plausable answer. How ever I think that HORRIFIC was a great word to discribe the Travolta families feeling right now. Bravo Tom, now go home a kiss your babies and thank God or who ever you thank that you have them safe and sound in your arms.

The View was definitely in poor taste to have Tom Cruise on and ask him a question regarding his friends and scientology peers and their recent loss. It's true that the issues of scientology and treatment of diseases and illnesses should be addressed. They did not have to be addressed today with Tom Cruise. Ask someone who is not a scientologist, Barbara or who is not friends with the Travoltas. There are other medications to help control seizures as well as surgery to help. It's unimagineable that Jett Travolta might not have currently been on antiseizure medication and if that is the case then there should be an investigation. I wish the Travolta family no ill will and because they are good people, popular, and wealthy should not get them a free pass to not treat a disease as serious as grand mal seizures which can indeed kill especially with a head injury as well. This is very serious and I hope it will continue to be discussed honestly and openly.

I think this clip was very poorly edited. The timing on the question was horrible and what would anyone expect him to say? While I think Tom is totally nuts, I have to defend him not coming with a prepared statement on this particular topic. I challenge anyone to give an honest and genuine answer about a difficult question on national tv and do so with grace. People forget that all those wonderfully dramatic moments in their favorite tv shows get many many takes to get it right.
