My mom would have been thrilled if I would have wanted to wear a dress all the time when I was little. I liked pants better & she let me wear them. I didn't grow up to be a brat & get everything I wanted. People need to stop badmouthing them as parents considering she looks happy & at least they take care of her & don't leave it to employees to raise her.

Sorry, but I have to agree with the other commenter. If what a child wears is your biggest worry than I will feel bad for you when your kid becomes a teen.You will be kicking yourself for ever worrying about such trivial things.

You always see either Tom or his wife with their daughter, so refreshing, and they both work besides, but never forget their parenting. She's a sweetheart.

8:18, I have to agree with the people who are telling you that kids need limits. My 2 year old would have slept with us every night, but it wasn't the right thing to do. Sometimes you just have to say I love you, but the answer is no.

I totally agree. I don't know how this has been misconstrued that I don't believe in limits when all I said was the kid is not a brat because she chose a dress over pants.I am a very strict parent, but I give leeway and pick and choose my battles based on the circumstances.We don't know what the cruises circumstances were when this incident took place.Co-sleeping is a very important problem and seems much more important than what a kid prefers to wear though.

8:18, And your point is??? All toddlers act similarly, regardless of socioeconomic conditions? Quite right. All of us need to be taught limits, including cute little toddlers, be they rich or poor. It insures they will become responsible and trustworthy adolescents and adults. It's the way it's been done for centuries. A brat is a brat, with or without a silver spoon

Wearing a dress over pants is not a bratty thing.Limits when it comes to wearing clothes at the age of 2??I am sure her parents would have reprimanded her if they were going out in freezing weather and she refused to wear appropriate clothes, but it sounds like they may have just been at home sitting around....Not wearing pants when your mother put you in them doesn't make the kid a brat and it isn't like she is running amok. Seriously, reasoning with a 2 year old is hard and you need to pick and choose your battles. I'd be more worried about what my two year old were consuming rather than wearing...My point is calling her a brat because of one instance of stubborness is judgemental and UNREALISTIC.
