Twilight Star to Play Rocker Joan Jett

According to The Hollywood Reporter, she has signed on to play Joan Jett in a biopic about the rocker's 1970s all-girl band, The Runaways. (Jett will also serve as an executive producer.) The Runaways -- comprised of guitarists Jett and Lita Ford, drummer Sandy West, singer-keyboardist Cherie Currie and bassist Jackie Fox -- were one of the first successful all-girl hard rock bands. See photos of the most rockin' celeb chicks. Before disbanding over management and money issues, they churned out hits like "Cherry Bomb." The movie will follow Jett and Currie as teenagers "to their dissolution and disillusionment," according to The Reporter. Production is set to begin next year, but filming will have to revolve around Stewart's commitments to the two upcoming Twilight sequels. See photos from the Twilight premiere. The first, New Moon, is expected to shoot sometime in early 2009. Twilight Catherine Hardwickie - who has yet to formally sign on to film the sequels - recently told MTV News that New Moon is aiming to be "finished by the end of 2009, if not the beginning of 2010; cameras could be rolling in about five months." We could probably do things a little bit faster this time, but who knows? It depends. And sometimes you can do things really fast. You can get two editors on, and you can just zip through." They look nothing alike. Nothing. Kristen is gorgeous though, and most sane females would love to have such a hot icon playing them in a biopic. Add to that the fact that she's NOT perfect....Joan was FAR from perfect then, and that she can PLAY music. Joan herself has already jammed with her.

First of all, when they make a movie from a book, its obvious they dont expect the entire book to be filmed. thats just too much. The books are amazing, all four of them. The cast they chose so far is great. I love all of them, they bring something different to the table. SO STOP BEING SOO NEGATIVE, WOW I MEAN IS THAT HOW YOUR LIFE IS SURROUNDED BY NEGATIVITY. come on people. Stop hating on them.

The movie was quite good actually. If you prefer the books that's fine, but don't judge it till you see it. It's a shame that "purist" means the same as "clueless soapbox climber" nowadays. And even if Robert Pattinson was trashed, he's of legal drinking age here AND in the UK. Um, so there. I'm happy that opportunities are knocking for both of them. They deserve it.

funny....first thing i thought when i saw pics of her at the london premier is that she looked high as a kite! Pattinson looks trashed as well, Great role models for all those pre-teens that are the biggest fan base of these books and the movie. I've heard the movie is horrible from everyone I know that has seen it. Bad acting... low budget film at best. I think I'll stick to the books!

Just because it's illegal doesnt mean she can't do it...the pictures obviously prove she can! There are people out there doing alot worse things then smoking pot...look at lindsay lohan...she wasn't even the legal drinking age and had all sorts of problems and she went to rehab and what 2 hours of jail. Big Fing Deal!

Who cares if she was smoking pot. If the government was smart it would be legal and maybe the money could go to something useful like public education or health care, instead of to the underground economy. Give her a break. I say "smoke weed everyday." Whatever makes you happy. It's not like she got a DUI.

Pot is illegal in the United States. If she wants to "live her life how she wants," she needs to move somewhere else, and I wish she would.

Im sure she's learned her lesson about that... she knows theres 2 more books after new moon so that means 2 more movies, and now shes getting more job offers... shes obviously going to get her life together and not be a dumb a$s loser like britney spears or lindsay lohan, she has a future in the acting business
