Burmesebabe it has nothing to do with people being racial. The fact is this kid cant act, hell he can hardly read. Here is a list of problems I have with a 10 year old black kid playing the lead roll.

1. Daniel Larusso is an Italian name not African American.

2. The movie is set in high school. This kid is 10 years old, your in what 6th grade when your 10?

3. There is a huge love intrest in the movie, it plays a huge roll in it. How can a 10 year old kid have a love intrest?

4. One of the best moments in the movie is when Daniel gets his car for his 16th birthday to show the bond and friendship between the 2 main rolls. This cant be done with a 10 year old.

5. Another big part in the movie is when Daniel gets pushed down the hill on his bike. He gets a HUGE black eye. How are you gonna be able to tell if this kid has a black eye, I mean come on.

6. He is all of what? 4'5'' tall. What is he gonna do stand on a box to kick somebody?

Now am I against this kid being in movies? Not at all. Hell they can even make a new Karate Kid and I could dig it. But not a remake. Why cant they do something good like have Chozen "the main bad guy in part 2" see the error of his ways and move to America to start a new life. Then he finds this kid who is going down the wrong path in life as he did, so he takes him under his wing and teaches him respect for himself and others through karate.

There are a million other things that you can do with the Karate Kid rather than making a remake. This is a huge huge mistake. Even if they were to have a 16 year old Italian kid play the lead roll this is one of them movies that should just not be touched.

Blow the coke from my nose!! That's awesome. I think it's great that Will Smith is pawning off his son to make money. What better way to keep that whiney kid out of the house than to ruin a great classic film and create another Smith disaster.

A remake of Karate Kid is blasphemy. Someone pls do the crane kick on Will Smith and his son. I mean, Jaden could quite possibly master the bone dance, but fill Ralph Macchio's shoes/slippers, never. At least Hillary Swank is masculine.

A wise, old man taught me that Hate is wrong. But I hate Will Smith.

PLEASE tell me that this is a joke! While I think that Will Smith is a teriffic actor, and his son was good in "Pursuit of Happiness, this is a terrible idea. You can not successfully remake this film. It is perfect already. Jayden is 10 years old. What are the fights gonna be about? Someone stole his lunch money? I'm sorry, but this whole idea is a HUGE mistake. You also, can not find another Mr. Miyagi that will even remotely approach Pat Morita's.

Don't remake the "Karate Kid"! That movie should never be touched. Wow, does Hollywood not have enough material to absorb from their brain to write down on paper anymore? Do they have to go rip off movies that have already been made? I have a feeling this movie will amount to nothing. Besides, if they really want to remake the movie, why not choose someone better to play the part?

What is that cr.ap about a remake of "Footloose"? Zac Efron is supposed to be in it and take the character that Kevin Bacon did. Please. Get real. I'm a real stickler for the 80's movies, and I don't think they should be remade, because the remakes are never as good as the originals. Leave it alone Hollywood and come up with your own material. The only remake that I've seen that I really like and that was Rob Zombie's take on "Halloween."

Um isn't he a bit young to play the Karate Kid? I guess Hollywood nepotism prevails.

Is Hollywood is running out of ideas or what!! Perhaps they need to search for new talented screen writers that can bring fresh new ideas. People are tired of watching recycled flicks. However, its a good thing Jaden is following his daddy's foot steps.

It is a waste of money and time to try to duplicate the karate kid,the movie should be left as it was - a great movie - leave well enough alone.

This is a STUPID idea. All my friends and parole officers agree that the girl from Witches of Waverly Place should play a new female Karate Kid. The guy who runs the Cobra Kai should be Run DMC. The main bad kid should be that dumb Hayden chick from Heros 'cause she's a mean political person and blonde like the bad kids in the movie.

He is one cute kid! I'm not sure how the remake would do, though. I wish him luck. Love him and his family!
