Nick Lachey vs. Fox News

While doing an interview via satellite on July 10 from San Francisco for NYC’s Fox’s 5 morning show Good Day New York, Nick Lachey was asked about the steamy hot-tub photos of him and girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo on vacation in Mexico last month – when the screen suddenly turned into a color-bar error message. Coincidence, or a case of Lachey dodging the question? The show says the latter. “There was no technical problem,” a rep for Fox 5 tells Us. “Even the biggest divas in the business don’t pull the plug on live interviews – it was a bizarre reaction to a simple question.” For his part, Lachey, 33, talked about the racy pics that day with Access Hollywood’s Maria Menounos. And his rep says, “We did 25 interviews with legitimate news stations across the country [without incident],” adding (with a wink), “it must’ve been the rolling blackouts in New York, or Fox forgot to pay their satellite bill.” But if Fox is to be believed, could Lachey (or his handlers) really have pulled the plug? Yes, says a veteran news producer: “You just push a button.” Meanwhile, Fox 5 wasn’t the only one to have issues with Lachey. Oh c'mon this isn't the first time they have been caught making out in a pool/hot tub, they KNOW they are being watched. At least one of them was playing a bit for the cameras. This day and age with the paps... whatever. They were stupid to do it if it wasn't "staged". I guess Vanessa's pics with Lohan didn't bring enough attention her way. But this landed her on the cover of a mag.

Yes, we may not be celebs and have to worry about paps, but they are human and should be able to enjoy being with each other by themselves on vacation. And come on...with the lenses that paps use we would be able to see a fly on the wall if they wanted by zooming in. It doesn't have to be staged to look so close.

If this was an intimate moment between Nick and Vanessa, then it should have taken place inside, in a private room. Paparazzi is stronger and bigger than ever, so why do celebrities continue to degrade themselves this way? I hear many celebrities say that they will not speak about their private lives on tv or in interviews, so why do they live out their private moments out in the open? As far as I am concerned, any moment caught on camera out in the public deserves an explanation. Have they ever thought that maybe if they admit or explain the situation, it may go away a lot faster? I guess to them, the motto "bad publicity is better than no publicity," is a way of life. Oh how I wish glamour and class was still in.

I say that he is quite a gentleman to refuse to talk about his sexual relationship with his girlfriend. They had sex on vacation together - in a hot tub - big deal! There is nothing wrong with it and it shows class that he won't dignify the question with an answer. Fox was told not to ask about it, they did, he pulled the plug. Good for him to stand by his word. That is more than I can say for Fox.

I totally agree STACIE! Nick's people told Fox that he wasn't going to answer questions about the hot tub, they decided to put him on the spot - on air - and see what he'd do. Well, that's what he did. I don't think Nick looks like an a$$, I think the people at Fox do. Nick Lachey is not the 1st person who has ever told interviewers that some questions are off limits. He's not interested in exploiting himself, or Vanessa. Good for him.

This is where journalists piss me off. Yes, you say "No Comment" but the thing is why should you have to be put in that situation when they were already TOLD NOT TO ASK!!! That's not fair to the celeb in question! I'm all for getting the dirty gossip and stuff, but if they were told don't ask this...then Nick's handlers have every right to pull the plug. Problem is that either way Lachey is screwed. Since they pulled the plub he got bad press for the reaction, if he had said no comment he would have gotten bad press for avoiding the question. We all want to know...yet at what cost to the persons involved???

I personally am glad that he is not with Jessica Simpson anymore. Her father is the reason they are no longer together, and he has since moved on. I am glad that he is happy with someone else.
