Friends are no family for Patrick Dempsey, who has declined his invitation to Grey's Anatomy co-star Katherine Heigl's wedding in favor of spending the holiday with his family.
Heigl, 29, is set to marry singer Josh Kelley, 27, on Dec 23. "I am so happy for her," he tells Entertainment Tonight's Jann Carl.
"I've never seen her so happy," he added. "He's a great guy, too, and they are a great couple."
Dempsey, 41, who is heating up the big screen this holiday season, will be spending the holiday with his wife Jill, daughter Tallulah, and 10-month-old twins Darby and Sullivan.
"It's the first Christmas with the boys. They'll be walking by then, so we're excited," he tells ET.
Dempsey might be a no-show but Grey's will be represented at the wedding by castmate T.R. Knight, who will be Heigl's bridesman.

She's a 3rd rate celebrity and had to plan a Christmas wedding so she wouldn't be humiliated by the number of A-listers who skipped her self-absorbed event. Now she can blame the fact that no one cares to show up on everyone's preference to be with their families... holiday or no holiday I'm sure that's where everyone would rather be anyway.

I don't think that patrick dempsey wanted what he said to be blown up. I don't think he is being a jerk just because what he was asked was blown out of proportion or the fact that it is his baby boys first christmas eve let alone christmas in a whole. Maybe you guys shouldn't judge celebs so much untill you know their position or have meet them. Think before you make your little comments.

Much as I love the tabs this is such a non-issue. Anytime anyone plans either a destination wedding or one timed to a major holiday then they know that a fair number of folks won't attend. I agree with the earlier poster who said this was no doubt taken out of context.

Are you all seriously pissed off that he's not showing up to Katherine's wedding. I think it's a pretty logical reason why he wouldn't want to go. Family come first. And I doubt he announced this to the world because he's a d*ck. First of all, US magazine is running the story, which probably means they asked him point blank if he was going. What did you want him to say, "none of your business"? They would've found out anyway.

She probably did not even invite him, but he was told to say he was. Grey's is the most publicist controled set in Hollywood-believe me. They put on a very scripted facade and from reading these comments and comments from other news posts as well, they seem to fool a lot of people.
