The romance between Heroes stars Hayden Panettiere and Milo Ventimiglia has been an open secret for months – in part because of their 12-year age gap. (Check out more pictures of their first public date here.)
"They were tired of avoiding questions and of all of the effort of keeping it secretive," a Panettiere source tells Us Weekly in its new issue, on newsstands now.
Panettiere, 18, who plays Ventimiglia's niece on the hit show, was also worried about her reputation. "She didn't want people thinking she is a 'ho' because she jumped from one relationship into another," a source close to her tells Us.
Indeed, Ventimiglia, 30, had a crush on his co-star since she was dating Stephen Colletti. "He always had a crush, but really let her know the minute she broke up with Stephen," a source says.
Since Panettiere still leaves with her mom, it's a good thing, a source tells Us, that Ventimiglia has her approval. "Milo is such a good guy, honest and sweet," says a source. Besides, says another source, "She is really like a 30-year-old."

I've had a crush on him since gilmore girls... lol... he's gorgeous but I always thought it was gross because he's old. lol. I'm the same age as Hayden and when I think 30, I think old enough to date my mom, not young enough to date me. Now don't get me wrong, if Milo Ventimiglia were to ask me out, I'd go... lol. I just would think him a little perverted... prolly wouldn't marry him or anything...

everyone who has a problem with the age difference, go to google and type in celebrity age difference and look at some of the links.
basically, milo isn't the first guy to go after a hot (very hot) younger woman. and to the people who say "oh, he had a crush on her before she turned 18": leave it alone, there are plenty of older men that couldn't wait for the day that girls like christina aguilera, and other teen stars turned of legal age. it doens't take a rocket scientist to know that a lot of men over the age of 26 thought these girls were hot and couldn't wait for them to turn 18 (with the hopes that playboy would approach them, and they would say yes) so are all these men disgusting too? i dare you to find any man over the age of 26 that doesn't think there are at least a few celebrites that are under the age of 18 that they don't find attractive.
p.s. lol at the "driving ms. daisy joke" but dude you gotta realize almost no one here is going to get that joke because it's a really old movie. you should go with something like cloris leachman as cruela deville from 101 dalmatians or something (that still might be a little out of reach for the younger people)

I am not terribly concerned with their relationship but i hate it when people comment on age difference. My parents have a 15 year age gap and my father met my mother when she was 18 so there is no real issue for me there. But in my personal opinion i think they make a great couple but that their future is definitly uncertain. Becasue she is only 18 she still has alot of growing up and learning to do especially with the struggles of always being in the limelight. But i definitly wish them the best of luck!

Some people need to stop taking gossip magazines and sites too seriously. If you don’t know that 80% of this stuff is made up then you need to stop reading celebrity gossip. You don’t have to believe everything they write just because an “anonymous source” said so. Just accept that you won’t know around when Hayden and Milo began going out until one of them says it, so just wait before believing everything.

It's not the age gap but that he more or less admitted to having been attracted to her even before she was of age that makes this whole thing disgusting. Hayden and Stephen split only a few weeks after her 18th birthday. She should not worry about her reputation; it's Milo who is damaging his.
