In this unusual mix of film noir and comedy, sexy Kay (a peroxided Rachel McAdams) inspires Harry (Chris Cooper) to plot to kill his devoted wife, Pat (Patricia Clarkson), to spare her from divorce in 1949. Yet Kay's also spending her off nights with her married lover's best pal (Pierce Brosnan). Well-acted and suavely directed, the flick offers an uncommon take on suburban life nearly 60 years ago.
