Nicole Richie loves being a mommy, her dad Lionel Richie told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show this morning.
Of Harlow , Lionel (who referred to himself as "G-Pa") said, "That baby is the sweetest, most beautiful baby. Nicole's kid is amazing."
Nicole, he said, "has turned into a full-fledged mom. It's the most frightening thing in the world because you keep thinking, 'Are you going out?' And [she's like], 'No, dad, can't go out! She has another feeding — I have to be right here!'"
Lionel said he learned of Richie's pregnancy "15 seconds after she knew it.
"Nicole and I are very close. She presents everything to me as, 'Oh, my God, dad, you're not going to believe this!
"I sat down and said, 'How bad is it?' She said, 'I'm pregnant!' I said, 'Oh, my God!' and got tears in my eyes."
Lionel said the "funniest picture" was Nicole after she gave birth.
"She had this look of her face," Lionel recalled, "and I said, 'And it doesn't come with a manual!'"
Of Nicole's beau, Joel Madden, Lionel said he has his "fingers crossed" they'll get hitched. "This guy is so in tune with Nicole — I love him to death," Lionel said.
"I couldn't ask for a better guy!" he added. "If there is a matrimony down the line, you'll know it first 'cuz I'll be telling everybody!"

I am not sure I agree with the idea of using children as an excuse to turn your life around. All this does is encouraged messed up people to procreate an already overpopulated planet. Does not sit well with me. You get yourself right FIRST, THEN you have children. If you do not, your issues will come out in your children, and the vicious cycle of disfunction goes on and on, until someone takes a proactive, progressive step towards healing for themselves, not for their children.

Ughh--I am familiar with the comments and have even had such comments made or implied by folks I truly consider ignorant. You know people are always judging you, looking at you sometimes as if you stole something. If you are predisposed to negative beliefs, sometimes played up in the media or instilled by your family's prejudices then you will believe that all black folks are on welfare, have 10 children by 10 different men, are uneducated. People hold on to these types of beliefs because they make them feel better about themselves I suppose. So sometimes we defend ourselves instead of telling that stupid, lying judgemental person to go to hell.

Oh my god she had a baby and now she became a full fledged mom? Why is she being praised for doing what a mother should do, which is put her child first? It's like that Chris Rock Comedy skit...where he is making fun of people for saying "I take care of my kids!" the punchline..."You're suppose to!" although I think his words are a bit more harsh than mine. Another stupid article grr..it's so annoying.

I think Nicole and Joel should do whatever they want. Marriage...no marriage...they should do what makes them happy. Having a piece of paper doesn't insure happiness....trust me

I knew the Richie's before Nicole. It is good to see that their child has matured into not only a beautiful woman but a responsible parent. Your kids rebel sometimes and at least this story has a happy ending. Xtina's comments about Nicole seemed to be fueled by the green-eyed monster but look how their lives are on the same mommy parallel. You won't see my name in the papers because my parents are entertainer's and of course I am not a debutante like Nicole and even though I am from a working class background I understand that--so if their is any interest in Nicole's like it is because of her famous parent which I do not think it was fair of Xtina to criticize the public's interest in Nicole.

I think they are good for each other. It's refreshing to see someone say they want to leave their partying crazy life behind and mean it! If only the others could do the same instead of checking in and out of rehab as often as they change their clothes! Good for her, she seems truly content with her new life :)

Nicole has really suprised me.
When she said she had learned her lesson and was changing she really meant it.
Her and Joel should do whatever makes them happy, be it marriage or not.
One thing she should NOT do, let Paris babysit or come within 1 foot of her baby. Keep Harlow far far away from that skank.
