A fourth installment of Disney's High School Musical is in the works.
"We are writing High School Musical 4," Disney Channel Worldwide President Rich Ross told the Hollywood Reporter Tuesday.
Vanessa Hudgens, Zac Efron, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman are headed to Utah later this month to shoot High School Musical 3: Senior Year, the first in the series to hit the big screen in October.
Ross said "all the cast" may not return for the HSM4, but that some new characters may be introduced in HSM3.
While recently promoting her Degree Girl contest, Tisdale, 22, told Usmagazine.com that "we love HSM, but we kind of have to move on.
"It will always be a part of us that we loved to do" she added. "All of us have gone through so much together, like winning the Billboard award and an Emmy and an American Music Award! That’s something that we’ll always remember!"
Where does Tisdale (who topped Us' Best Makeover List last year) see her career going?
"I'd love to do more romantic comedies in the future," she told Us.
Her inspiration? "Kate Hudson — she's funny!"

Ok, I absolutely LOVE HSM, but to tell the truth they should stop at HSM 3. I don't think that HSM 4 and so on will get alot of awards or be very popular. Because without the original cast it won't be the same. I know they have to move on but, it's still sad. This is what made them HUGE. Without HSM I don't think they would be that popular. And now it's sad because when the whole HSM franchise started they were SO grateful, now they are just like pay us double or we won't be in it. Sorry, but I feel that way.

In my opinion it isn't HIGH SCHOOL musical unless they are in high school. It won't be the same in college. I am personally looking forward to a third one but I think they have to draw the line. They should finish the third one probably do a sing along and move on. You'll see ashley and vanessa and zac and Lucas and monique and Corbin in other movies and of course in the press. So I wouldnt get to worried!

if they're going to make a 4th one they have to have all the cast...i love these movies and i cant wait for the 3rd one and believe it or not i think it would be cool if there was a 4th...but in my opinion there's no point in seeing it if the original cast isn't there...and if ashley loves hsm so much then why does she think it's time to move on...i don't see her the same anymore either...

without the main characters in hsm4, it wouldnt be high school musical anymore. it's not worth it and it wont be as popular. so i just suggest for them to stop writing hsm4.
and why would ashley tisdale say "we have to move on" thats real stupid of her. that makes me think different of her now

i absolutely LOVE high school musical...i'm eighteen but i watch it on dvd every single week and i have the music on my phone
my family is crazy over it but we will be really disappointed if te original characters weren't included in hsm4
please dont bother if you are going to have new characters

As much as I LOVE HSM 1,2 (and probably 3) I dont think that they should do a fourth one unless they have all the characters back together! Yes, i understand that the cast would like to move on and if they chose to do so dont do a 4th one with out them! It just would'nt be the same!

I really love the first two high school musicalmovies and I cannot wait until the third is there, but I like a fourth movie. I really hope that the whole cast will ask to come back for hsm4, maybe they are not having very important roles but they have to be in it. An original cast is the best to reconise the movies, if they don't come back: There will be a bad note from hsm4...

You know what? If they dont stop this, there'll be a *HSM: Retirement!* movie! Seriously. These movies STINK. I HATE Zack Efron, Corbin Bleu, that other blonde guy, & Vanessa Hudgens! Ashley Tisdale is pretty good, tho.

Disney should make a movie about HSM original casts' college life: their struggles and challenges which new college students can relate to. We(my daughter and I), still want to see the saga of Troy and Gabriella and the rest of the cast. They may be given a more mature roles, this time. I think making a HSM movie with new casts will ruin the magic the original had created. Make a new title then. HSM belongs to the the original casts ONLY!!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE these movies, but part of what I love are the characters. I don't think I could watch it without Zac, Vanessa, Ashley, and Lucas. Just wouldn't be the same. I think I'd want to go out on a high note, not keep getting new characters where the show has the potential to go down the drain. I'm THRILLED for HSM 3, but no, the primary thing that makes the movies work are those 4 characters
