Angelina has been doing humanitarian work since 2001. Three (3) years before she even met Brad Pitt. She has made 30 visits to refugee camps in that time period, in 16 countries, many in remote dangerous areas.

While Angelina's time and travel is incredibly impressive, the sheer volume of the atrocities she has confronted is what blows my mind. She has visited with the survivors of horrific, sadistic rapes, landmine victims, child soldiers, people/children with their arms hacked off, victims of machete slashings, people who have had their whole families wiped out before their eyes. They usually have nothing and they have been in these camps for years and years -- sometimes decades.

She does this in addition to the numerous charities she supports here in the United States and her son Maddox' Millenium Project in the Cardamom Mountain region of Cambodia, which employs 70+ people and has built roads, schools and a soy milk factory. The area is home to 6,000 people.

She could have just written a check and shown up on Oprah if she was looking for PR.

Why do haters always brought up Angelina's past?? As if you all are perfect when you are young.. if anyone of you haters are miss prim and proper during your youth then YOU ARE ALL FREAK OF NATURE!!! They only came back when they thought everyone had moved on but going by their recent box-office flops no one has!! They only started the NO charity when people were complaining that they did not care about America - remember wonderful Angie saying "There is a Hurricane Katrina everyday in Africa"?? Brad's charity was to counter-act that idiotic and telling comment.
BTW - Too bad "megastar" Brad couldn't help the ratings - much lower than last year's charity episode!!

Agreed. Thank you for your input. Man, oh man, does our country have problems, especially in education. "No Child Left Behind" is a horrible plan.

I wish this country were as wealthy as Angelina Jolie seems to think it is. I wish rich, happy Americans could afford to go all over the world, helping people.

Unfortunately, this last administration in particular, with this disastrous, costly war (TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS) has really done a number on us.

We are in desparate need of ALL of our efforts (AND OUR MONEY) focused right here at home - on education, on health care, on social services, on making the gap between the rich and the poor less severe - or we will see the end of our nation's greatness in our lifetimes.

I think Jolie is irrelevant with her international focus, unfortunately. It is not time for that now. I understand it gives her a warm, fuzzy feeling to travel - it's exotic and glamorous - but you don't have to be starving in Africa to be in need of help right here.
