It’s hip to be green in Hollywood. Usmagazine.com rounded up the most eco-friendly celebs in honor of Earth Day. Check out what these stars are doing:
Leonardo DiCaprio, 33, just bought a condo in the solar-powered Riverhouse building in New York City. "Riverhouse is a prime example of how green technology is both accessible and achievable for new residential developments — it is a groundbreaking building," a rep for the actor said. DiCaprio, who has an environmental foundation named after himself, also made a documentary called The 11th Hour.
Cameron Diaz has appeared in public service announcements for Act Green, and also drives around in hybrid Toyota Prius. "I love my car!" she has said. "It actually saves me probably from a lot of tickets, because I like to drive fast, and the Prius goes fast enough - but it's not a Porsche, so it actually keeps me out of trouble." Diaz also purchases carbon offsets while traveling. "My travel agent just basically tallies it as I go," she says.
Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth won an Oscar for Best Documentary, the former Vice President won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize (with the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change). Gore calls global warming, "the greatest challenge we've ever faced."
Singer Jack Johnson records in a solar-power studio made from 100-percent-consumer waste. His summer tour will also be entirely eco-friendly: he'll travel in vehicles fueled with bio-diesel, will offer earth-friendly merchandise and will try to reduce carbon emissions from concert venues.
Brad Pitt has been leading the charge for sustainable redevelopment of New Orleans following 2005's Hurricane Katrina through this Global Green USA Holy Cross Project. “What happened two years ago was a man-made disaster,” says Brad, “and this building offers a man-made solution.”
Paris Hilton traded her Range Rover SUV for a Ford Hybrid car. "I think driving hybrid cars is the new way to go, and recycling," she's said.
A warrant for Hayden Panettiere's arrest was issued after the Heroes actress interfered with a Dolphin and whale hunt. "The world and the environment are evolving and that means we must change our ways as human beings as well," she has said.

you have to be kidding me, celebrities have no idea about the real meaning of being green, lets see, are their homes powered by solar energy, are they heated and cooled by geothermal, are they off the grid, however Leo seems to be headed in the right direction. I work in the alternative energy business and there is so much more everyone could be doing to help prevent global warming.

NONE of them are green...until they stop jetting around in private planes! I am more green than them just due to the fact that I walk many places. They don't even do that. They have limos that take them everywhere.

I'd say its Jack Johnson, then Al Gore then Leonardo DiCaprio.
I can't stand seeing Brad and Angelina act like they are these environmentalist saints, talking about how important it is to fight global warming then chartering a private plane to fly to New Orleans then Austin then back to New Orleans then Los Angeles then New York..then Africa and Vietnam, not to mention Angelina and her little joy rides. They don't stay in one city for longer than a week. They are like admired for being these world travelers, but they are just hypocrites.

I just went to the Kokua Festival in Hawaii this past weekend and was blown away by everything Jack Johnson and his foundation do.
It started with volunteers walking around through the crowd and asking for trash and recycleables. They encouraged everyone to bring their own water bottles and offered free water filling stations so that no plastic was brought in or purchased. All of the food that was offered was organic and sustainable, and the food and beverages were given out in "Styrophobia" plates, utensils, and cups - which are made out of corn and are 100% biodegradable.
In addition to being an amazing concert, it was the cleanest & greenest concert ever held here in Oahu.

I hope that Paris and Benji have baby because it would be the most adorable baby ever. She would be the most attentive and responsible mom. I bet she would even use cloth diapers becuase she is very concerned with the environment. So all you haters can just leave her alone. She has had life, people constantly following her around and taking her picture. Its much hard than you think to have a bunch of money. She is just trying to work hard and live her life happily.

While I will not argue that Paris Hilton is very pretty and smarter then most people think. She is no where near the greenest celeb out there and she is just ranked so high because people like her. I wish people would vote on facts but this is just a celeb magazine...

I think that Paris Hilton is such an amazing role model, not only she very green savy but she is an all around good person. I hope that she can one day get into politics because she has some very good ideas that could help our country! I think everyone would vote for her because she is beautiful, funny and most of all very smart!
