Oprah Winfrey's Big Give will not be returning to ABC this fall.
The charitable reality show was one of a handful of shows not renewed by the network, ABC announced Tuesday.
"Oprah felt like she got a message out there," a rep said on a conference call. "It was not something she wanted to renew."
Sex and the City protege show Cashmere Mafia, Men in Trees, and Women's Murder Club are also getting the ax.
Returning shows include Boston Legal, Brothers & Sisters, Desperate Housewives, Eli Stone, Dirty Sexy Money, Grey's Anatomy, Ugly Betty (which is moving to NYC), and Scrubs, which is jumping networks from NBC for its final season.
The network also unveiled an untitled project helmed by Ashton Kutcher and Tyra Banks. "It's a beauty pageant like no other," a rep said. "They're both very excited about it and have been integral in the development process."

Once upon a time, I thought it was all about ratings. With the decision made about Women's Murder Club, we can see that even ratings don't matter (because they were better than for Eli Stone or Dirty Sexy Money, only two examples). The cancellation was just a blatant display of misogyny, and it's been obvious right from the start.
Strong women characters? Much too dangerous.

I think it's really funny, that Jen Aniston's PR people (also Oprah's PR people - the Huvane Bros), got Oprah to cut Aniston's participation when they saw the ratings sucked. In early press relaeses for the show, they had Aniston doing a segment with Jamie Oliver and working as a 'team' -- but maybe when they saw the ratings sucked, they yanked her whole segment. She did that consolation prize at the end for a split second, but I guess the Huvanes protect the clients at all cost. They didn't want Aniston attached to yet another crap TV show I guess(see Dirt) Wonder what Oprah thought about that??

I agree with a lot of the post on Women's Murder Club!!!!! They should not cancel this show! It has definitely a great cast and good stories to go with *coming from a great writer, how can you not have a great story line!* If ABC doesn't want to carry it, sell the show to NBC OR CBS or another franchise!!! Don't let this show go!!!!!

Have they said if "Big Shots" is being canceled? I loved that show! Glad to hear "Dirty Sexy Money" is renewed though! Could care less about all of the other shows being canned. Love the James Patterson books but the TV show was awful.

as far as Oprah is concerned....hasn't she done everything?
other than her great celebrity interviews, i can go on with my life without another lecture from Dr. Oz.

I agree with others about Women's Murder Club! With the strike only allowing 6 or 7 episodes, and switching dates and times, no one had a chance to watch on a regular basis. I really enjoyed this show which was well written and had characters that had a lot of depth and fun to watch.

I don't care about Cashmere Mafia...it wasn't nearly as good as Lipstick Jungle. I hope that comes back. Anyone know if it will? So happy that Dirty Sexy Money is coming back too. Very fun, light entertainment.

THE ONLY REAL REALITY SHOW IS COPS..LOL. AND THE FIRST SEASON OF REAL WORLD ON MTV. BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THEY WERE IN STORE FOR AND YOU CAN TELL IT WAS GENUINE. ALL THE ONES AFTER IT, NOT SO MUCH. YEAH, THEY CAN BE ENTERTAINING, BUT HOW MUCH OF IT IS JUST THEM MAKING DRAMA FOR THE CAMERAS?
