Shania Twain's secretary and house manager is slamming people.com's report that she split up the country singer's 14-year marriage to producer Mutt Lange.
When contacted by E! News at her home in Geneva, Marie-Anne Thiébaud admitted, "I know what you're ringing to ask me about. But, when marriages break up they break up for all sorts of complicated reasons, it's never just one reason. And those reasons should be kept private.
"If you're looking for a person that broke up a marriage then you have the wrong person. I'm not that person," she added.
Thiébaud, 37 —who said she no longer works for the pair and is retired — declined to comment any further on the report, asking that the press not "intrude into people's private lives."
Twain, 42, and Lange, 59, announced their split on May 15.
They have a son, Eja D'Angelo, 6.
In the new issue of Us Weekly (on newsstands now), longtime pal and radio host Tim Denis tells Us, "Initially, I think they felt getting away from the spotlight would be good for their marriage, but it does not look like that was the case."

Don't forget she went to all the awards nights alone?? That in itself tells you what sort of a guy he is. There is wanting privacy and then there is buying up all photos??? Not a good way to live your life and expect your wife to put up with it. It would of been a lonely existance.
Shania probably has her faults, but I'm sure she will fight back and be on top of the charts again and of course be the good mum that she is.
If all the media of the world have any decency (BIG ASK) they will leave them alone and sort out what they have to.

Who really cares why they are getting divorced. It is none of our business. How would everyone feel if all of our lives were splattered all over the front of every magazine. I agree with the person that said if someone is getting married the media says "there is a baby hump" and then if someone is getting divorced "someone was cheating". It is all a bunch of crap anyway. There are other reasons why people get married and divorced.
I would look miserable too if I had some loser taking pictures of my every move as I am heading to the store, to dinner, the park with my kids, shopping with some friends. Imagine having a bad hair day and just wanting to be left alone and then someone snaps a shot and it is all over every magazine with headlines like "look at Shania letting herself go". What happened to her. Yet we know she is gorgeous. And people actually believe this stuff. Too funny

Hello: Upon reading the comments on Mutt and Shania...the first thing that came to my mind was Why did she move to Big, Old Switzerland? There is as much cheating in Old Europe as there is in good Old USA, and I would say majority of men cheat, just the same with women, they all go astray when there is fault at not working on the relationship.

i think cheating is just a way for some people to end a relationship. he knew he'd get caught, esp. since the other woman was so close to the family. he prob. wanted out of the relationship but didn't want to be direct about it so, he cheated.

Mutt likes to take care of his women financially. He did it with Shania as well as his two previous wives. He's a musical legend and get a lot of royalties. I'm sure he gave the secretary a lot of money not to kiss and tell. Too bad there's a child involved.

Shania can do alot better! She has talent. I know alot of you thinks she married Mutt to get in the music business. But remember, she had a hard time breaking into the music business BECAUSE of Mutt. Because Nashville didn't like an "outsider" coming in to their teriortory. So if anything she made it in spite of him.
Plus, whenever she spoke of their love she would be glowing, I truly believed she loved him!
She has presevered through alot worse. And seeing how she is a strong, talented woman. I have little doubt that she will bounce back bigger than ever.
We Love you Shania.

I don't know what Shania wanted with him in the first place. I don't see the attraction and he is unattractive. Shania is pretty and could do so much better. You think her husband would be real handsome. Mutt had already been married twice when Shania married him. Good riddance!

I feel bad for Shania because she really loved this man but he was divorced twice before he married her. Personally, I wouldn't date a man who has been divorced twice because I don't think he would remain in any marriage. Nobody is perfect & you can always find a reason for having an affair. Marriage needs commitment from both parties.
Shania didn't marry Mutt for her career as she always said he was a kind person & fell in love with him. I guess he's not that kind but I must admit being in the entertainment world must be difficult to remain faithful. With this couple, you would have thought it would have been Shania who would have had an affair. My husband, son, uncle & I think she's hot. If Mutt cheated, she's better without him.
