AS FOR AMY, I DOUBT THAT YOU WERE EVER A FAN OF JESSICA'S.

First, for those who bitterly ask why we, the public is so concerned and interested in this couples or past couples' very public life as celebrities, the answer is obvious. Other than the right to freely express our opinions, the public and the consumers and the fan base (I was once a Jessica fan and an avid one but not anymore) is who makes people like Jessica popular and famous. In tern, their status as public figures and celebrities demand sharing even intimate parts of their lives at times. There's pros and cons that come from being celebrities but that's what they sacrifice for popularity. Plus, taking their married lives to TV was a choice they made and they can't expect anything more than the least of having people inquiry about their romances and such.

Second, this is directed to the anonymous person who keeps calling us assholes for commenting: no one here or on any of these boards claim to know her personally but just as any of us bases our opinions on the actions of a person (since actions do speak a level of volume over hearsay), the majority of us side with Nick because of certain things he's done or not done over the things Jessica has done or not cared to do. As for the media, Jessica has even gone to lengths as to contact all the major media forms such as People, Us, Star etc. saying she's willing to work with them on stories on her. I was a skeptic of the magazines and such but after seeing that after they reported a suspected divorce, this couple in particular did actually divorce despite their efforts to deny any rift in their marriage and say, "they're as happier as ever".

Now, on their marriage. If you go back to when Jessica first had interviews as a teen, she vowed to her virginity and values of chastity as demanded by Christian values. She publicized her identity as a God believer and such and that God was her love and always will be. Ha. And if her dad, Joe Simpson was such a God revering, God loving dad who reared his own families to believe and since he is Baptist minister himself, he wouldn't manage his daughter in the way he does guiding her to sell sex. Jessica came out on the Ellen show and continued in her guided ways says, "cause y'all know sex sells". And her dad wouldn't talk about his daughter by saying, she has double DD and what do you expect. I don't think he would have encouraged her to have a divorce either. What's worse is his encouragement even to Ashlee Simpson as supposedly tell her to date an A-lister to up her star status.

The idea that Jessica wasn't willing to go to counseling bothers me also. Even how money crazed and star obsessed Jessica is herself more than fans. She only offered Nick 1.5 million in their divorce. She was strongly offered a pre-nuptual agreement before their marriage and it may have also been because of Jessica's speculated lavish spending habits. Really who does spend $750 on two bras and a panty. It's actually nice that Nick is a bit conservative with his money. It's so hypocritical and ironic of stars who support big causes and say they get so inspired and touched by children and causes who have little to nothing material and yet they continue to put their money in frivilous spending and become overly materialistic.

I thought Jessica would rise up to the higher standards and expectations a majority of her thinking and bright fans held for her. It's all very disappointing. Jessica will quickly realize that there weren't many celebrities willing to buckle down and be faithful. I wouldn't say Nick was controlling but once you're married and your finances aren't separated and such and just the idea of union of two people, you can give financial advice and suggestions about bad spending habits. The truth is if you didn't care for someone you wouldn't even bother correcting them or bother with their flaws at all. You'd leave them to their mistakes and demise. So it just shows Nick cared enough to correct her when she did make a mistake.

I agree with everyone who says that you can't assess or infer anything from a star's publicity appearances and speeches but you can only see glimpses of who they really are when they're by themselves and at home. I didn't even know or suspect even after reading it, that Jessica had a bad habit. Even when she went to the Bryant Park Hotel in NYC where I'm from, she claimed she would donate it all to the charity she publicizes, Project Smile but she was really selectively picking out items she liked for herself. When inquired whether she would stand by her declaration that she would be proceeding those items and the car to Project Smile, there was silence from her end so that in itself says it all. It's all of these nuanced actions and non actions that give us the consumers and buyers and essentiallly funders of these celebrities the authority to say our piece. I stopped buying Jessica CDs and so many of our friends have too. I had initially defended Jessica to my finance but no longer because Jessica really could have tried to get counseling because if two willing people or totally honest and put themselves to be vulnerable to each other and open to working things out, marriages can continue. How do you think all the other married couples do it. Of course it doesn't mean that there aren't tifts here and there but they're able to work it out and apologize to each other and be sincere at the end of the day which makes them able to go on another day and so on.....

I agree with just about everything on this page!!! Jessica's whole life is just a big publicity stunt. Thanks to her father. And what's with her teeth?? She looks like a flippin' chipmunk!!! She is nothing but a dopey peroxide blonde tramp. And Ashlee is waaaaaaaaaayyyy better than her now.

1. I do not think that Nick treated Jessica as well as people seem to think he did during their marriage. For instance, even if Jessica was making a valid point, Nick would focus on a surface error (such as a mispronunciation) and mock her mercilessly. He used this approach to win arguments a lot on Newlyweds, instead of really listening to what Jessica was trying to say and compromising.

2. While Jessica's acting may be overdone, she is not talentless. She truly does have a good voice and is a charismatic performer. Even if you do not enjoy the fluffy pop she sings, she has an extremely large vocal range and a quality tone. She is also able to sing jazzy runs, which is difficult to do.

3. Nick is getting far too much sympathy from women. Women can be very quick to turn on one another, but Onchi made a good point when she brought up Nick's inappropriate behavior involving strippers, among other public indiscretions that circulated well before any of the rumors of Jessica's ALLEGED infidelities. It should be noted that Bam and Johnny Knoxville both denied any physical relationship with Jessica Simpson, and Bam added that his ex-fiancee was just plain crazy.

4. I think Nick is blatantly trying to capitalize on his divorce and arouse pity in the public. All his songs take a "poor me" perspective. Poor Nick is right- you were always getting wasted, watching strippers perform sexual acts on one another, and flirting with girls in clubs while you were married. And right after the divorce, you waited a whole two minutes before bedding Lizzie Arnold, Kristin Cavallari, and Minillo. While Jessica knows that a heartfelt ballad about her heartbreak and some regretful interviews about the demise of her marriage would have gained her ground in the sympathy war that Nick initiated, she is too classy for that. She has wisely opted not to speak about her divorce or even tell her side of the story, although she would probably profit from it monetarily.

No, I think she just used Nick as a stepping stone to get noticed.

No... I don't feel sorry for her. I used to really like and respect her when she was with Nick. I thought man this girl really knows what she wants... being a virgin until the day of her wedding was something I respected her for, but know I seriously doubt she was a virgin. Look at her now she's probably slept with half the men in Hollywood... Christian?!? Yeah right. Oh yeah I also think her new single really really sucks. On the other hand Nick's CD is the best... GO TEAM LACHEY!!!

I saw her special too, but it made feel such disgust for her. Why was she crying? She has nothing to cry about. She divorced him.
