C’mon, dancers, where’s your excitement? Where’s your will to win? It’s been a mere few weeks since our celebrity dancers and their pro partners first took to the stage to perform, but after last night’s performance show, it’s almost as if they’ve already gotten into the “I’ll just coast along until the finale” groove.

Effortlessly securing his spot in the finals last night was Joey Fatone, who unleashed his lightsabering skills on the dance floor with a tango to the tune of the Star Wars theme. We knew the guy was a goofball, but last night’s dance? Genius! Expect Fatone and partner Kym Johnson to quickly rise to the top of the Dancing ranks after that innovative number, giving Laila Ali and her partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy the cutthroat competiton we’ve been craving all season.

With five days to prepare jive and tango routines, some stars were a bit pensive during pre-show rehearsals, and understandably so, in the case of “left-footed hillbilly” Billy Ray Cyrus. Also pensive was pageant queen Shandi Finnessey, who put the blame squarely on her shoulders for last week’s bottom two debacle.

The beauty did make the right choice this week in letting pro partner Brian Fortuna choreograph the duo’s jive, performed to the tune of “Crocodile Rock.” America’s favorite real-life Ken and Barbie looked flawless, but appearance only counts for so much in this game. Although the routine was breezy and fun, Fortuna’s highly exaggerated facial expressions and sweeping dance motions took away from his partner’s solid effort. While these two will be sticking around for a while, they best watch out once John Ratzenberger and Clyde Drexler get the boot, leaving the bottom spots wide open.

Our odds-on favorites, Apolo Anton Ohno and Julianne Hough jived to the top of our ranks, even if judge Carrie Ann Inaba called the steppers “sloppy.” We prefer to side with the quick-witted Simon Cowell of the crew, Bruno Tonioli, who told the dancers “you’re so fun you should be a ride at Disneyland.” The line starts behind us, America!
