David Hasselhoff has been awarded primary physical and sole legal custody of his two daughters, Hayley, 14, and Taylor-Ann, 17, over his ex-wife Pamela Bach.
Hasselhoff’s attorney Melvin Goldsman tells Usmagazine.com, “Mr. Hasselhoff was awarded sole physical custody of his children. My client is very happy and now he can go on with his life.”
The ruling came despite the fact that, in May, a judge suspended Hasselhoff's right to visit his children after a videotape filmed by Taylor-Ann surfaced online showing the America’s Got Talent judge drunk, eating a burger off his living room floor.
He would not elaborate on why his client was awarded custody. “The hearing was closed and I can’t talk about the specific reasons why the judge made this ruling, but he reviewed all the evidence presented and then made his ruling,” he said.
According to TMZ, shortly after the judge handed down the decision, Bach was spotted crying in the hallway of the L.A. Superior courthouse.
Before facing the press, TMZ overheard the mother of two telling her lawyer Debra Opri, "What am I gonna say? I just lost my kids."
Bach and Hasselhoff married in 1989. The former couple have been waging a bitter custody battle over the last year since the actor filed for divorce in January 2006 after 16 years of marriage.
Bach claimed that her ex once beat her so badly that he broke her nose (an allegation he denied).
At one point, a temporary restraining order was granted against Hasselhoff, who was ordered to stay 100 yards away from Bach and their home (barring his visits with the children) and to relinquish his firearms.
In response, Hasselhoff, 54, filed papers accusing Bach, 43, of abusing prescription and illegal drugs, claiming that she was "intoxicated or on drugs" at their daughter's sweet 16 birthday party.
A lap report submitted to the court last October concluded that Bach tested positive for cocaine, which she contested. She was later retested and the results were negative.
