Pete Wentz made his first public outing over the weekend since announcing his engagement to Ashlee Simpson.

The Fall Out Boy bassist, 28, was all smiles at an event for his Clandestine Industries clothing line at The Nordstrom South Coast Plaza Store in Costa Mesa, California, on Sunday.

His fiancée, 23, stayed at home.

Despite having his own clothing line, Wentz said he won't weigh in on what Simpson should wear to their upcoming nuptials.

“I would not even try to step in and design Ashlee’s wedding dress,” he recently told E!. “I don’t think she would want that — thank God. Anyone who would want a wedding dress designed by me, I would not want to marry them.”

Wentz isn't the only only designer in the relationship: Simpson is launching her own line with Wet Seal.

Is he worried about competition in their relationship? Nah.

“I’ve always been all right being second place to her,” he said. “I’m fine being her purse.”
