I think it's sad. Nicole has a problem and hopefully this will be the wake-up call she needs. Lucky for her she didn't kill or injure anybody OR herself. She needs treatment and Narcotics Anonymous. As for getting away with it -- she probably will. Most celebrities do. Oh, she'll pay a fine (a large one because we all know it's all about the money in cases like these) and have to do community service (probably PSA's or an anti-drug article in some magazine) but she probably won't go to jail. If she loses her license it won't be that much of a hardship because she can always hire a driver or ride with somebody else. As for Paris Hilton - she'll get away with it as well. Like I always say...the more money you have in the bank, the less accountibility you have for your actions.

What she did was inexcusable and no one supports drunk driving. However,11:19 AM Anonymous , the statistics you posted by MADD go well beyond misleading. The statistics MADD uses are derived from the NHTSA's annual report from their FARs database. The NHTSA data reflects accidents where ANY alcohol was present. If a pedestrian has one beer and is killed by a sober driver , the NHTSA consideres it alcohol related. The same can be said for a car load of people with a designated driver as long as one of the passengers has had any amount of alcohol. Notice that no one needs to be drunk to be included in their statistics. After the NHTSA gathers these numbers they begin to input what they call "unknowns". "Unknowns" are accidents that "fit the description", such as,a teenager crashing into a tree at midnight.The main problem with "unknowns", is the fact that there is no evidence of alcohol or impairement, they simply follow a pattern of known accidents where alcohol was involved. The NHTSA lumps these numbers together and labels them "alcohol related", then MADD takes those same numbers and spins them to mean "drunk driver caused". This has worked well for MADD for years although there have been resultant problems. Former MADD director Charles Pena has left MADD and has begun exposing the way they misrepresent statistics. Many others have left citing MADD's deceit as well, including Candy Lightner who founded MADD. The real numbers are bad enough without multiplying them exponentialy for political pull and financial gain (MADD is being investigated in Canada for spending only 19 cents of every dollar for their stated purpose).

ok, i read all of these comments and i have ALOT to say. i dont KNOW nichol personally and niether do alot of you people on here so why judge her? did she do something so horrible to yall? well, not to me so i would say good job at getting out of that situation girl...as for everyone else, yes its wrong what she did but if you think about, im sure you have all done something dumb like that and got caught. if you never did anything like that then you must have a boring life. she is young and in her prime of her life. she is having fun...yes she is rich but if she dont want a driver she dont have to call one...alot of people drink and drive and do drugs while driving and get arrested or slap on the hand but no one breaks out a whole page on that person. she is just another person in this world like everyone else. ok, she has her faults just like everyone else does but why keep harrassing her...you all say that she needs help and oh she so skinny she need to eat and crap like that...well, do you think that you are helping her or hurting her? to me, and if you think about it, to just about anyone that was in her shoes it would make me more depressed and hurt to have so many people out there with NO support at all! what if NO ONE would support you and talk about you all the time and have cameras in your face and at least try to live a life to entertain others but as soon as you make one false move it ruins you? for nichole....just keep ya spirits up and dont worry about others...you will be ok...just let them walk in your shoes for a week and see.

I take many different medications for a back injury from a few years ago. The medication that I take does not give me the high feeling that it gives someone who takes the medication recreationally. Even though it does not effect me that way, I still do not drive after I have taken them. If I have to drive then I skip that dose or I have someone else drive me. I don't have the kind of money to hire someone or to have the recources to have sober people around me that are working for me. I, a normal everyday person, can still find someone to take the wheel when I have taken my meds. There is no excuse for someone putting other people's lives in jepordry. We all do make mistakes. And we do not have the public scrutiny that these young stars deal with. But it does not matter where you are or how much money you have, driving under the influenece of anything is a selfish choice made by a person who knows what they have put into their bodies. There is no excuse to put other people in danger no matter where you are. Make all the mistakes you want, everyone does, but don't risk the lives of other people, those are mistakes that can be prevented, making them the worst offenses.

Drunk drivers kill people. Drunk drivers should be forced to join the Marines. Like back in the old days. Jail or the military. MADD statistics show 16,694 alcohol related deaths in 2004 in the US. An estimated 248,000 people were injured in crashes where police reported that alcohol was present — an average of one person injured approximately every 2 minutes. Military deaths in 2004 were 848 killed 8001 wounded. Everyone is freakin on the war when drunks like Ritchie, Kennedy, and Murtha are really killin everybody. Where is the outrage about drunk drivers? Congress sucks!

Evidently more money than you can spend does not help the decision making process. There but for the grace of God go I. Nobody can know who has not been lavished by the world the temptations these young, not terribly bright individuals succumb to inevitably. We must pray that any just one of these people stand up and become a good example to the next generations of narcissistic self absorbed proletariats who most certainly look up to this boorish behaviour as something to aspire to.

When you have as much money as Paris and Nicole, I dont understand why you dont pay a sober friend to drive you regularly... I take a taxi when I go to the bar. And I guess they would rather spend their money on expensive useless clothes.
