I have read many of this comments and i belive if we all come to an agreement that we let our children watch tv but only for a certain amount of time get them use to this. give them the sporty life as well as the luxary of the tv dont ban tv for good because even tv has some good init.
and other thing is make sure to keep a watch out for your children espescially the older ones who have reached the age of puberty due to some channel containing adult scenes.

5:50 AM Avarey, I think children can better "see the way the world is" by LIVING in the REAL world! Participating in life is not accomplished by sitting your butt in front of the boobtube for hours! And as for the people who think children won't know what is going on in the world without TV or computers, that is laughable. Are your children watching CNN or the local news or are they watching JUNK? Have you ever heard of books, school and the newspapers? OR here is a thought, maybe YOU as parents can TEACH your children about the world. Travel with them, read with them, talk to them. THAT IS A MUCH BETTER WAY TO LEARN ABOUT THE WORLD THEN BY LETTING THEM PLAY ON MYSPACE AND WATCH JUNK TV.

We shouldn't ban our children from media because we're afraid they'll see what a terrible place the world is. Doing such a thing will set them up for disappointment and failure. TV, in moderation, can be soothing and a way of relaxing. Just because parents can't control their children's tv watching doesn't mean they should get rid of all television for the future.

Television has always been a propaganda machine and continues to be so. As people sit there in front of these machines and just absorb lies and twisted truths they can't process the information fast enough so they can't logically think about the data and accept a lot of lies as truth. Please don't let your children watch television. They will be wiser and happier as a result and not brainwashed by those who want to brainwash them.

If there's no tv or no computer, how the hell is a kid going to know what's going on in today's society!? I should know TV rots your brain, I watch it everyday as well,etc.

I think kids tv and video game time should be limited - but not completely taken away. There are some quality shows on tv - and I think it's always good to watch them as a family.

If a child has NO TV and NO computer access how are they going to know what is going on in the world today?? Granted people years ago didn't use any of the above and were just fine, but times have changed and computers are necessary for people to live in the world today. Most jobs require some form of computer knowledge and it is a excellent tool to have knowledge of. Yes, some TV is not good, but there are many tv shows, programs and so on that are very interesting, fun and educational to watch. And for Rosie to say what she said is a little off sides. She is a TV PERSONALITY and she doesn't let her children watch TV?? Isn't that a bit hypocritical?? That would be a singer saying they don't listen to the radio/music. I knew someone in school that didn't have a TV. His parents didn't believe in TV and said that books, reading and so on are they way to go. He ended up committing a few severe crimes and is now in prison and has been there for the last 10 years. OH and by the way, he was fat!! So not watching TV didn't exactly help him out. SO, the moral of this story is the grass isn't always greener on the other side now is it. It all depends on the person and if some one is so weak minded and lets things on TV and on the computer bother them. People just look for the most convenient scapegoat. And if you are a parent, monitor what you children watch and then you won't have a problem. There is educational programming out there.

It makes me furious when TV personalities say that they don't watch TV! That's called biting the hand that feeds you!

6:58....you are obviously not a parent...I don't know many people who only watch ONE or ONE HALF of a television show a day, 30 minutes? That's a rich fantasy life you have there. My nephew gets plenty of time away from the TV, we take him to the park, we ride bikes and take walks and read books and play games and play soccer and basketball, and yes still there is empty time in the day where he watches a few hours of TV, but it's not like its tv-babysitter all the time.

I watched tons of tv a day as a kid, but I balanced it out with books and reading and activities like girl scouts and gymnastics and soccer and dance...I wasn't out of shape, I wasn't dumb, I didn't develop ADHD or become a serial killer. TV is not the devil.

6:51, a FEW HOURS of tv a day??? That is SCARY! I can see like 30 minutes a day, but a few hours IS harmful to your children. Even adults shouldn't watch that much TV. No wonder kids these days are dumb and fat.

I don't believe a total ban on television is necessary, though I limit how much my nephew can watch, a few hours a day never hurt anyone, besides countless studies have shown kids benefit from watching prosocial programming like sesame street, mr. rogers, etc. Educational programming supplements what kids are learning in school and what you teach them at home.

And realistically, what parent can get away without letting their children watch tv? when you have younger ones, they can't go outside without you, they get bored of playing by themselves, and toys become less interesting after 5 minutes...I'm busy, I have things to do, and I can only play so many hours of Hi Ho Cheerio and CandyLand before I say "Here! Watch Dora!"

I don't know of ONE parent (and I know a lot of moms) that bans tv altogether even if they originally said that they would. It's a nice thought, but really it's not bad if it's moderated.
