Thomas Beatie, the world's first pregnant man, will write a memoir about his experience.
Love Makes a Family: A Memoir of Hardship, Healing and
an Extraordinary Pregnancy is set to hit stands September 30, Entertainment Tonight reported Thursday.
The book will chronicle Beatie's female-to-male gender reassignment surgery and later pregnancy.
Beatie (who once competed in the Miss Teen Hawaii USA pageant) gained national attention when he appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show in April with his wife, Nancy.
He said his pregnancy was "human desire" and that he is "a person and I have the right to have my own biological child."
Being pregnant, said Beatie, did not make him feel more feminine.
"It doesn't make me want to go and shave my legs or something," he told Winfrey. "I'm a man, I just happen to be a pregnant man."

I can't believe any one is giving this a second thought. This is a very gross thing. Men can't have babies. God designed it that way. That is all there is to it. And, for those that don't believe in God, you will soon enough (well maybe not soon enough, but one day you will). As for those of you that are complaining that people are judging on here, bull. We ( I do consider myself in this group) are NOT judging. Just stating fact. Read your Bible - A man and a woman marry and reproduce. Not, a woman and a woman, not a man and a man. It is WRONG. The whole gender thing here. A woman is a woman, and a man is a man. That is not us "judging" that is the way it is. I hope the baby lived a happy life. I truly do.
Here is a question for you - if the "parents" split, who will have custody? Which Mom? Will the other Mom - not the biological one, have any rights? How does all that work? Is the "ManMom" gonig to finish the gender change? Then he/she will have the physical characteristics of a man, but I honestly don't believe will be a real man. Kinda like Pinocchio wanting to be a "Real boy."
To answer the question - I would even thumb through the pages of the book.

I think that it isn't our right to judge. But there is a valid point here. He is not a full fledged man because he was once a woman whom kept his reproductive parts. SO he isn't the first pregnant man. We still are waiting for that. I think that he didn't try to hide that fact though because he himself told. Wtg Mr Thomas for that. To those who are condeming him: How do you know that he initiated the statement of being the first pregnant man? When asked he tells how it has came to be so I think that says alot for his integrity.

I have a cousin who is transgender and I do not judge her its her life. I may not want this for my life but thats what these people choose.And for those of you who make the comments that this makes you sick or thats disgusting better take a good look at your selves your far from being perfect as we all are. And in case you didn't read legally he is a man whether he still has his female organs or not and also his wife had a hyterectomy and can't carry the baby herself or it would be the other way around. You people need to think long and hard before making and comments and taking action to make these people feel bad about what their doing because I'm a believer that what comes around goes around and this might just come back to bite you. I think its great what their doing giving life to a very lucky baby girl.

First of all, this is a woman. A woman who is a lesbian. A lesbian who wanted to be a man. A woman/lesbian who felt so strongly about being a man that she had gender reassignment surgery to permantly alter her sex. THEN the woman/lesbian who wants to be a man, after deciding to undergo gender reassignment surgery, decides she wants to have a baby.
Am I missing something? She's a woman...fine. She's a lesbian...fine. She wants to have surgery to become a man...whatever. THEN she wants to have a baby? This woman has some issues.
If you want to be a woman, be woman. If you want to be a man, be a man. But don't hang somewhere in the middle, looking like a man (but obviously having not completed the gender reassignment surgery) and claiming to be the first pregnant man. You are a female. You were born female and you obviously have female reproductive organs. A little facial hair does not make you a man.
It makes you an opportunist. And a frightening and pathetic one at that, bringing a child into the world in the middle of it.

I had a baby once. Aren't you all glad you know that? I guess I don't know how my being a woman and having a baby is any different that this person. IT'S a WOMAN- not a man. NOT A MAN, NOT A MAN. This person was born with female parts inside and still has them and is using them to be pregnant. I thought this had been happening for quite sometime, guess I missed something.

This is the dumbest thing to ever be discussed on national television and the sad part is, is that Oprah Winfrey actually supported the "man pregnancy" bit. Do we seriously not have anything better to talk about than some woman who wishes to be a man, who is a WOMAN, having a baby? The biggest point they made was that SHE had quit taking the male hormone to even become pregnant. This is a sad sad story that should be forgotten. Sad people trying to make a quick buck. This is not a modern marvel.
