Priscilla Presley: Twins Won't Call Me "Grandma"

"We say 'Nona' — it means 'grandma' in Italian," the Dancing With the Stars alum, 63, tells Entertainment Tonight. "There's just such a connotation with Grandma, and I just liked it better," she adds. "[Lisa Marie's children] say it so sweet: 'Nona.'" See unforgettable celebrity baby photos. Lisa Marie, 40 — whose twins with husband Michael Lockwood will arrive this fall — has two children from a previous marriage to Danny Keough. Us Weekly first broke the news in its issue last week that Lisa Marie was expecting a double delivery. On Tuesday, Priscilla confirmed it to ET. See photos of other stars with twins. "It's her time to celebrate with her husband," Priscilla says. "My daughter is a very family girl. She loves children, and I know that she and Michael have been hoping for this for a long time." Over the weekend, Lisa Marie's rocker pal Pink threw her a baby shower. Priscilla says she is ready to dote on the little ones. "I'm looking at baby stores; I'm looking at all the incredible things that are out there today that I wish that were there during my time," Priscilla tells ET. "It's just fun to have a baby!" Please.................I've been a grandmother since I was 37 years old and have been called Grandma, Granny, and Mimi. Some of my children call my mother Nana which is the word for Grandmother in Italian (not Nona)prounounced Na Na like Sha Na Na, and my sister's children call her Abuela which is the Spanish word for Grandmother. I prefer "Granny" myself. I think it's cute. Can you tell we are of Spanish descent ?

Different people choose to be addressed by the grandchildren by different names, as is their choice to make. But as "a rose by any other name is still a rose," a grandma by any other name is still a grandma. I don't know what conotation the word "Grandma" has to Priscilla Presley but its conotation to me is beautiful. My favorite grandparent was addressed as Grandma by her grandchildren and she was the most loving, patient, honorable woman I have ever been priviledged to know. It is for just that reason I chose to be addressed as Grandma when my first grandchild was born when I was 39 years old, nearly 15 years ago. Every day since then I have strived to live up to the honor of using that name. Each and every time one of my 8 grandchildren addresses me as Grandma which love, joy and respect in their voices I am once again awed by the privilidge of having earned the honor of being their "Grandma." What your grandchildren call you should not matter nearly as much as the emotions they feel for you.

Most of you people are so full of hatred for Priscilla. Priscilla's plastic surgeon is going to JAIL for what he did to her. Do you people NOT READ? To make fun of a women that has been disfigured by a crazy plastic surgeon is just wrong! God help you all if you are ever in a disfiguring car crash or fire. How would you feel if people made fun of you? Geeze....makes me sick! She is already called "Nona" by her other grandchildren, so what is the problem? My mother wanted to be called "Grannie", but the first grandchild called her "Nannie" so it stuck. My daughter called her "Nan". My grandkids call me Deede. It wasn't something I picked, but it stuck also.

Who cares what her grandkids call her? They are her family not ours. I never called my grandmother "Grandma" either. She's been called Mom by me since I learned to talk. Its not what anyone made me do. I heard everyone else call her that so that is what I started calling her.

I am ages with Priscilla, and happy to say I have 6 granddaughters, 3 grandsons, and happy to say, a great granddaughter on the way. Nothing makes me more happier than when I hear...GRANDMA. I still work, very active, people can't guess my age. I am going from, Grand to Great. To not to confuse the child with my daughter being her grandma; I will welcome to be called GRANNY.

Did you negative posters even read the article? She didn't say she wasn't proud to be a grandma, just that her grandkids call her something other than grandma. In my experience, I have heard grandmothers referred to as grandma, granny, maw-maw, ma'am, and my daughter's Italian grandmother wants to be called 'nonna'. Consider that there may be cultures/experiences/endearments other than what you grew up with! And that they are as precious as what you hold dear!!

Lisa Marie sounds like she is finally happy. Is that why so many negative remarks about her? I can't believe how many people have to deliver such hateful comments to people in the entertainment or other public fields! Is it jealousy that surfaces in the negative remarks? I agree with Susan it's sad that people don't let their grandkids call them "Grandma". It's all about getting older and having their grandkids call her a differnt name will someone make her seem younger. I am only 38 years old but the day my daughter has her first child whenever that will be I will be "Honored" to be called "Grandma" no matter what my "AGE" is!!!!!

I could never judge anyone, not ever walking in thier shoes. You just dont know what makes people do or say things, especially someone in the public eye as they are. I personally am grateful for being able to have a private life. Lisa did not have a choice. She is the daughter of Elvis..of course everyone is curious about her. I feel sorry for her..well, maybe sorry is not a good word, but I feel for her I guess. It cant be easy being her. Best wishes your way Lisa Marie.
