I love this show!!!! I was watching this episode last night, but i didn't get to finish watching it...so i am extremely astonished that Kit got the ax....WHY DID THEY VOTE HER OUT!!!!!
Thursday January 17, 2008
The fun starts as host Heidi Klum trots out the glamazon models. But something is different: Those hairstyles. They're huge. New Jersey huge. Turns out, the designers must create an avant-garde look based on the teased, crimped, moussed and faux-hawked hair of his or her model. The outfit "doesn't even have to be wearable," says Heidi. (As opposed to, say, those garments made of candy).
In the workroom, Tim Gunn announces that the designers must work in pairs. The duos: Kit and Ricky; Sweet P. and Rami; Chris and Christian; Victorya and Jillian. Naturally, the bickering soon begins as Rami razzes Sweet P. for tinkering too much on a pair of pants.
The next day, a curveball: Tim says each team has to also design a wearable interpretation of the avant-garde frock. Victorya doesn't like the news: "Horror, nausea," she whines. But Christian boasts, "I know we're gonna win." This, a week after he nearly gets the ax!
Then, it's judging time: Kit and Ricky create a dramatic hoop skirt and complementing day dress; Sweet P. and Rami present a draped gown over trousers and a simple dress; Chris and Christian (obviously auditioning for jobs as stylists on the Sex and The City movie sequel) unveil a dramatic organza gown with what appears to be the world's biggest shoulder pad (oh, and a smart blouse-and-skirt-set too); and Victorya and Jillian offer a punk-rock trench coat and little black dress.
"She looks like her ass is in her front," Michael Kors says of Sweet P. and Rami's pants. But guest judge Alberta Feretti focuses on Kit and Ricky's hoop skirt, calling it "Scarlett O'Hara, but in a cheap way." Ms. Feretti's instincts are spot-on: Kit is voted out. Christian's instincts are also correct: He and Chris win. And we all learn a lesson: Save the drama for the clothes, not the workroom.
