Gosh, they make Christian Bale sound like a jerk. What happenned is his business and his alone. It should not be in the papers. I bet he is going through some stressful times. We have all lost our cool at one point but our outbursts didn't make it on the news because we are not celebrities. People tend to forger they are regular folk, just richer and a job in the public eye. Leave the man alone. He likes his privacy and probably got testy because he sees his dirty laundry aired in public. I love Christian and have since I saw him on Empire of the sun. He is top notch in my book.

Please, please, PUH-LEASE put me up for a few days at the Dorchester! I promise not to cause a scene like that trashy Bale family, and embarrass everyone within ear-shot! Sounds like maybe his mother (and sister possibly too) are rather controlling and took the opportunity while Christian had little choice other than to stay to demean his wife. I'm sorry, but has no one ever yelled or even screamed during at least one fight in their entire lifetime with a family member? I have, and it's not out of hate and it's not out of agression, but sometimes people say things to hurt each other and you get annoyed and you lose your head and spout off some mean things of your own. The proof is in the pudding as my grandmother would say, because he didn't have any assault charges filed against him, so I think his mother is leaving it open to interpretation and she should just set the record straight that it was a verbal disagreement, not a physical altercation. If my parents said something really insulting about my husband, I'd snap and yell too I'm sure.

There are two sides to every story. If they were attacking his wife I completely understand his getting upset. Families are complicated. But it seems that his mother and sister might be making more out of this than it really should be. I'm not saying it is right to disrespect your mother, because it's not, but his mother should not be disrespectful to his wife (and the mother of her grandchild!)either.

1. None of has all of the facts. We were not in the hotel room with him, his wife, and his family. 2. None of us are perfect. Who among us has not ever yelled at our parents or gotten in to a heated argument with our parent(s)? People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones!! 3. If something so awful happened, why did his mom and sister's wait a whole day to go to the police??

There are alot of unanswered questions to this story...right now this is just what all of this is "a story". Simply because a story is reported by the news media doesn't mean it is completely factual. Ever heard of a retraction because all the facts weren't available at the time they had to go to press or air??

I agree with you, AnonymousMe. So many stupid females out there who will take up for some temperamental idiot simply because they think he's "hot". I never saw his appeal and never thought he looked like a "nice guy". I saw recently an article that he warned other men off the "American Psycho" role and even threatened them. Now this other stuff is coming out. He's simply a bully, and if his mother and sister were insulting his wife, maybe it's because she said or did something to them and they simply fought back.

You know, my husband got beat to a pulp by his father as a kid, yet he still loved his dad. My husband even had us take a mortgage on our own house to buy a house for his mother and father to live in. The got upset that the house was in a mostly black neighborhood (turns out my in-laws were slimy bigots, to boot) and they got into an argument with my husband and took that time to insult me, and his own father told him that my husband was going to die in an accident, and threatened to hit MY husband. My husband said, "Go right on ahead, you'll be knocked down quicker than anything." My husband got the worst of this, yet THEY reported HIM for elder abuse. That was it for my husband -- he broke off all ties with them. Just because a person's older and a parent of a person does not mean they're always the innocent party. SOME older people can be meaner than when they were younger -- and that's pretty dang mean!

If his mom & sister wanted $, then he simply should've showed them the door. Simple as that.

10:51- What 17-year-old boy wouldn't go live with dad? Dad's are party time at that age. He probably didn't want any rules to live by! This JERK has lost his cool on sets & with reporters. He's blaming his mom for his actions- no one else is responsible for your actions but yourself. "He felt trapped" is someone making an excuse for him. "Normally- he'd go to a pub to cool off" indicates to me he has anger management issues on a regular basis. Bet it'll be his wife's fault somehow when he starts slapping her around.
